If you have a Generation 6 ES without navigation, it does not have the ability to show maps from Waze, Google Maps, etc. on the car's display screen.
However, the 2017 ES does have compatibility with the Scout GPS app. I don't have my 2017 ES any more, and, when I did have it, I never tried the Scout GPS app because my ES was a navigation-equipped car. In any case, I think the Scout GPS app does have the ability to show maps on the screen, but the reviews that I read of the Scout GPS app were not great. However, it might be better than nothing.

Sorry, when you said you had a base ES, I assumed that you did not have a navigation system on your car.
However, what I also said is still true. The infotainment system on the Generation 6 ES, regardless of whether you have navigation or not, is not compatible with Waze or other navigation apps. The only way to gain compatibility would be to replace the entire Lexus audio/infotainment system with an aftermarket/3rd party system.

I'm not quite sure what you are talking about. While the live Destination Assist service requires a paid subscription, if you have a navigation-equipped 6th Generation ES, there is no charge to use the navigation system. There is also no charge to use the Destination Search feature that is a part of the Enform App Suite.

Does your center console have a round "hockey puck" **** or at thin nearly flat "mouse"?
The Navigation equipped cars have the mouse and as lesz indicated, free to use forever.
The useful Lexus App Suite (not LAS 2.0) is the free and useful way to connect your phone
to the native Lexus Navigation. It Does Not display the Apple/Google/Waze maps, it lets you
use the newer/faster phone create destinations for the map. Many threads in CL on LAS.
If you have the thick round hockey puck **** you do not have Navigation and the Scout GPS Link
app is a somewhat glitchy hook up. Works OK if you don't wish to just prop up your phone on a
A/C duct bracket.
