thud noise during backup/reverse and stop
mine is 2016 UL - 40k . i am hearing a thud when i backup the vehicle and apply the brakes to stop. it happens always in the morning. has any one experienced this. Also i noticed if i do a backup in curve fashion (tilting the steering wheel) and apply the brakes i do not hear the thud noise when compared to straight line backup.
thanks

Normally there is a "click" noise when first applying brakes in reverse. Very normal. It can be a deeper "thud" if the pins on the caliper have corroded. The noise is coming from the disc brake calipers if that is what it is.

rmak: you are correct. Took the car to the dealer today and the service advisor said the same. it seems there will be noticeable clunk noise during backup and stop on ES models. i was hoping to try another ES on their lot to validate. Glad it was not major, since the vehicle warranty was expiring soon. Thanks for your reply.

Post 4 in this thread shows the clunk I had when I first bought my 2016 CPO. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/hyb...ers-noise.html
I had a few sliders on the brake calipers. After I cleaned and greased the slider pins it has greatly reduced it to a mild click. If the sliders do not move smoothly you will not get even braking and pad wear.
