Trying to play music from an iPhone but no response
I have a 2017 ES350 and an iPhone with the latest iOS. The voice recognition understands the song or playlist that I ask for and repeats it, but still shows a number of choices on the screen and then asks which number I want. Sometimes, telling it the number or even clicking on the selection doesn't make it play; there's just no response. Why would it not play the song, even if I click on the screen? I know this might be caused for any number of reasons, but if someone has a similar experience, thanks for any input!

I've found that my old iPod with an earlier version iOS plays music from voice command, so I think the problem is with my iPhone's current iOS, which is 16.3. I'd rather use my phone to play music if at all possible, so has anyone else experienced these problems or knows how to fix voice commands after upgrading an iPhone's operating system?

Press the appropriate phone button to trigger Siri and simply tell her to play Song title or Artist.
Buttons on the dash, "Radio" selects sources outside the car, AM/FM/XM
Dash button "Media" plays audio sources inside the car, CD, AUX and Bluetooth.
Press the steering wheel button MODE briefly to switch between modes.
Hidden feature is to Press and Hold the MODE button. This will mute a radio station
or Pause your USB or Bluetooth media source. (does not pause an AUX connected device)
This is a great workaround to the Lexus native Navigation shortcoming of not muting your music
when speaking verbal directions. When you are displaying a dash screen other than Map, pressing
the center console Map button brings up the Map...when you are already on the Map with a destination
engaged, pressing the Map button repeats her prompt. So, when driving with the tunes blasting and
you sense that she might have said something...press the Mode button long enough to mute the tunes,
press the Map button briefly to repeat the directions and then press the Mode long again to resume
your tunes!

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping not to use Siri, since the car's voice command had been working at least some of the time. I think the problem is with the iOS beta I'm using, so I've submitted feedback with Apple.
