What's this connected to rear strut?

Ah, never mind. Found more YouTube videos that explain a 5mm hex wrench is used in the center of the nut to keep the bolt from spinning..
By the way, anyone know for sure what the torque spec is on the strut mounting bolts. One video mentioned 146 ft-lbs.

Thanks for the doc. Where can I find it?
Car has 83k mi. When it was up on the rack for something else I could see a heavy oil coating all the way down the lower part of the left rear shock absorber. I'm replacing the whole strut assembly on both sides with KYBs, not disassembling just for the shock absorber.
Never seen ft-lb written as ft-lbf before.
214 ft-lb !! My torque wrench can go that high but can I?

I've haven't been happy with the suspension on mine for a long time but never checked into it. YES! If you wouldn't mind sharing, send to my address:. ron@aikins.name
If you add an extension to the torque wrench handle doesn't that change the effective torque? I thought it was calculated based on the distance the force is applied to the lever. Of course you could do the math and adjust the setting...
Thanks much for your help! I am not a mechanic, by any reasonable definition, but I will attempt some DIY jobs with sufficient instructions that don't require special tools or expertise. I've learned quite a bit over the years, sometimes the hard way, by working on my motorcycles, cars, and motorhome. Always gives me something to do, sometimes too much.
