Lexus ES 350 Leaks
Hello,
I am looking to buy 2013 or 2014 ES 350. After looking at one of them, while checking the spare tire, I accidentally discovered water in the truck on the driver's side, all the way on the bottom. After that, when I look at the cars, I check this spot for water/liquid. Last weekend, I looked at three cars, and two out of three have water/liquid in the very same spot. The sales people give different explanations, and one sale person just said that he does not know why water is there.
Does anybody know what causes it and how to repair it.
Thank you.

It's possible that water gained entry to the trunk area after a rain or snow storm. We had some very heavy rains lately here on the east coast and I know that opening the trunk after a rainstorm or even after washing my car rainwater can drop into the trunk area. This is a possibility but not an answer. The vehicle title would show if it was a flood damaged car and there would be other signs. If you have real interest in one or the other car, I would do a water test after completely drying the wet spot and see if it reoccurs.

I would ask to see the title and also ask if there was any damage to the vehicle. Then pull up a carfax or some other record of the vehicle since new. You can also ask for the service record. If I were serious about buying this very car I would demand a water test to see if it leaks again. If the salesman says no, say "seeya wouldn't wanna beeya". If OK lay newspaper all over the inside of the trunk, have a service guy spray a hose on it for 10 minutes and see if water comes in. Alternatively, I'm quite sure that you can find a vehicle that DOES NOT leak into the trunk. Leaks = damage and mold...
My guess is that you will not see a leak.
GOOD LUCK!
