Care to make bets if and when an OTA software update will come that disables much of the functionality while the car is moving?

Ideally I like using both the pad and the touch screen in her car after living with both cars for a while. But I’d rather have a dial or d-pad like device and could live without touch screen plus it looks way better pushedbfather back and integrated.

Tesla? Can’t get past the styling inside and out, I don’t care how great the software is. If I could afford to lease a new one every two years I’d have a Taycan or Panamera hybrid but alas no.
I don’t mind the d-pad. It doesn’t bother me at all. This is for my wife. This is the only missing feature that she wanted that was not available when I got her the 350 F sport for her 40ths in 2019. Well, that and folding mirrors. I was hoping that some aftermarket or OEM solution was available now as it was her dream car to have a black exterior with red interior and all the luxury and gadgets.

I have an IS 500 LE and every time she steps in my car she mentions that mine has a touch screen…

Had the touchscreen one on our Prius. The screen was always a mess with smeary fingerprints. My 2021 350 ES has the touchpad and I’m very pleased with it. Clean screen all the time! So be careful what you wish for!

Not the NX please, coming from driving an ES... RX is what you want
I have 19 ES350 and 20 NX300 I can't wait to upgrade to an RX, I wish they make an 300+ HP RX without hybrid engine LOL

I completely agree. We had a 2013 RX and a 2015 ES. We replaced the RX with an NX thinking it would be better for my wife with a bad hip. It wasn’t really much better but the ride just never measured up in comparison to the ES. Just too bouncy and noisy. Then after upgrading to the 2019 ES the difference/comparison was even more pronounced. Now we have moved from the NX back to the RX and enjoy it much more. The ride is way more composed and comes a lot closer to matching the ES, plus it has more power for the mountain roads around her.

To summarize: We didn’t dislike the NX, but we are much happier with the RX and feel it is a much better match to the ES in terms of sound levels and ride comfort.

You don’t have to take your eyes off the road to use the Trackpad, but you still have to take your eyes off the road to look at the screen, right?

Depends what you need the screen for!. Answer is no if I'm just surfing audio options/channels etc.
