I have observed that black is a hobby, not a color. I chose nebula gray instead of atomic silver for my 2019 ES300h. I anticipated that atomic silver would be wildly popular. Both nebula gray and cloudburst are good choices and way better than black.
Apparently a lot of other people agree with you - including me...
Just saw your signature with your atomic silver. My friends new NX is beautiful. I detailed it using Adams graphene ceramic spray. I have tried about every new thing that has come out in the detailing world. Used Zaino for years. This Adams has a two year life and is in everyone's top list on YouTube with car detailers. $40 a bottle and will do 10 cars. Takes 20 minutes to do a job.
I'm looking at black cars a different way now. Reason being: rinseless wash. you can pretty much wash it as much as you want, easily and quickly. So my black car always looks good. So Shaboom, you may want to consider such a washing method if you really want a black car but are put off by the dirty appearance.
This is a tad off topic but my parents first car was a used 59 Plymouth Fury. Huge fins, black on the outside and red vinyl inside. I don’t remember it but in pictures it looks fantastic.
my Dad always said he would never buy a black car again because he spent all his spare time hand washing it.

You go right ahead. Listen, if some self-righteous EV owners get to flaunt their rides and blather on incessantly with shameless arrogance about their so-called, self-asserted automotive prowess, then you damn well have the right to share a personal story that's actually relevant to the topic.
Might I say, what a cool car! Here's to nostalgia!
Black is historically the hardest color to keep clean and shiny. I will never own a black car because my OCD would go absolutely nuts however, in my opinion when its clean it looks amazing. If for some reason I ended up with a black car, I would take it straight from the car lot to get it ceramic coated and the whole car would get PPF.
I have tons of respect for people with black cars that keep them clean and shiny.

Dead serious. When we bought our 2017 RX and 2023 NX if my salsperson said a black one is 50% off identical vehicle except color would not buy it. Variety however is the spice of life and would be boring if every vehicle was atomic silver, silver or white.

One generation later from poster's father---In 1990, I bought a gorgeous new black Chrysler Imperial, sumptuous dark red leather interior. Seats and carpet far more luxurious than in my 2021 350 ES. That car was fit for a monarch! And yes, like the previous poster's father, I too, spent much of my spare time in the battle to keep it clean. But when I drove it, heads turned in admiration! Now that I'm retired with plenty spare time, I'm considering an encore performance. A black ES would be beautiful. Incidentally, had no troubles at all with that Imperial for over 50,000 miles when I sold it.
