Default Removing Front Seat

Has anyone done this? I am thinking the seat extender mechanism could be removed to eliminate the hard spot on UL's.

should be like any other car. i'd just be careful about the air bag wires setting off the lights.

though really i don't think you'd be removing the extender without destroying the seat. seats are just kind of a thing where if it's not making you happy, get a different car. there's really no way around it other than to significantly alter it which involves experimentation, money, time. not realistic.

I am planning to keep the car for a least another 8/10 years. So to trade in to get a more comfortable seat is a very expensive proposition for me. Maybe swap in a Lux seat or an F Sport seat without the extender? Should be under a $1000 for a used seat?

I agree with E4CT, trying to modify the seat by removing an internal mechanism like the extender probably won't end well. Perhaps getting a used seat from a wrecked car from a non-UL variant would be a much safer bet. As long as the mounting track and associated connections are the same it should work. Of course you'll also have to have it reupholstered if the color doesn't match. He's right on one other thing - be very careful with the airbag!

I thought I read somewhere that , I think it was the 2019, LExus had a TSB for this and the dealership can sort out the bar issue? Maybe you have already looked into this
otherwise I would agree with others - rather than trying to mod the seat, best bet is to find a salvage Premium seat in the same color and swap it out. The only issue then is that it may then be Nu-Luxe not leather? I'm not sure what the scenarios were in 2019, but in 2023 the seats with extenders appear to all be semi-aniline leather in Lux and ULs. the non extenders appear to be nuluxe. but maybe that was different back in 2019?
