I had BSM on vehicles but invariably the other vehicle door did not match up to the BSM. To me they are an option to dress up the car, but don't count on them for full protection.
One functional item I do get is the door edge film. Cheap protection for our door edges, and barely noticeable.
This is my 3rd Lexus and I’m thinking about adding Bodyside Molding to Protect my doors….Has anyone added molding to your ES? If you have any pictures please Post them.
Here’s a couple pics of mine which I installed myself today. The Boss wanted them in the slight chance they may prevent a ding or two. She’s the primary driver around town and definitely not as OCD as I am about selecting the perfect parking spot far away from others; so on they went.
I posted a picture of my eminent white above but the sun was casting a shadow.
Honestly I don’t have any energy about them one way or the other. On the prior Gen people added them because the sides of the ES were fairly flat without any body lines. This Gen has a lot going on.
BSM are indeed a judgement call. Though they reduce the chance of door damage, it is certainly not perfect. The only way to prevent door dings, scrapes, and other damage is to do what
Jack 1986 does; Park away from the other cars. Even then though you'll find some moron parked right next to your car. On my 2013 I installed them myself and they were perfect. On the Atomic Silver I let the dealer do it for $100.00... Obviously I like the look...
It took a grocery clerk to ding the rear bumper on our Atomic Silver ES. We had Covid last March and ordered groceries online. When we arrived, the clerk used the back of our car to stop the cart. It cut clear down to the black bumper cover. Grrr. It took nearly 4 years to get my first major ding as I am also in that club that chooses the most remote parking space - preferably with a curb protecting one side.
Back on topic, I did install the body side moldings on our RX as the height of the molding makes more sense and I like the look on that particular vehicle. I’m not as fond of the look on a sedan like the ES , where I favor the clean lines of the car. I also believe the molding may be a bit low to catch the majority of doors in today’s SUV favored world where we are likely to find that 20 year old Suburban in the adjacent “compact” parking space.
I do the one-side parking thing... sometimes i park between to known "evils." my theory is that if you park with open spots, you leave room (or lack thereof) for someone to pull in next to you. I'd rather park next to a nice ML class and a new CRV than with one side open for someone to wreck your day.

it will also alert me in real time if anyone is standing next to my car! one time it alerted me and i go check and it's just a nice family with their kids ALLLLLLLLLLLLMOST sitting on my hood.. lol.
I don’t know, the 7ES has some sexy curves along the sides which would be a shame to ruin.
A door ding isn’t guaranteed to happen, and can be fixed if it does. A rubber door strip is guaranteed to be visible every time you look at the car and you’re paying for the privilege, plus as others have mentioned will only stop certain impacts.
Ive removed them from some cars I’ve bought that came with them, same for pinstripes which the younger here might not remember as well. I’ve always refused mudflats and door strips and clear tape guard strips.

Lexus has color-matching door edge guards that that would give more protection than any film would, and they don’t look bad at all.

You can remove the side hybrid badges. they were removed for 23 models. then you can look like a 23.
