The stills don’t show anything. This would not be much of a problem if the lid would just stay up but it drops and when pushed up it won’t stay. It’s not every time but often enough.

 

I'm fascinated in general by just how complex a group job it is to develop a car. Somebody had to think this through, spec two sets of torsion bars, etc. No wonder the bar for entry is so high for those trying to enter the car business, and how many details an inexperienced company has the opportunity to screw up.

 

OMG thank you so much for this. My trunk stopped being able to automatically lift fully after I installed my spoiler and thought that was was the end.

 

Adjustable trunk lid torsion bars have been around for many, many decades, at least back to the 1960's maybe even older. My 1969 Dodge Dart had them.

This is an absolutely antique feature that is outdated. Don't give Lexus too much credit for this simple, cheap but effective trunk raising device
