Which cars/markets have the adjustable forward rearward headrest shown in the owner's manual?

That is very true, even if “supercomputers” supposedly design the headrests. People experience certain physical things like body positions, differently. This is the same anatomical reality expressed in real world terms that you see in the debate on whether or not people should be able to recline their seats on an airplane - one set says absolutely not, not ever, fixed up right is just fine while another camp, including myself, finds the bolt upright position (needed for impact safety during takeoff and landing) is very uncomfortable to my back and neck in short order and even a little bit of recline once in the air helps.

For cars, they can make design accommodations that fully comply with safety regs while still allowing for differing comfort preferences, such as the ability to slide the headrest a bit forward. I think it is not always just the headrest, but the seat back as well which, depending on angle, curvature and padding (or lack of it) plays a big part in it too. If you buy a cheap car you shouldn’t expect too much, but in a brand that markets itself in the premium category they should do better to address the issue.

I’m 5’1” & my head doesn’t touch either. On my 22 Taco my wife just turned the headrest around so when she was wearing a ponytail it wasn’t uncomfortable

How do I add rare things such as quotes & other punctuation on this forum so it displays properly?

Never mind if suddenly started displaying properly!

And then it stopped! Weird forum SW. It looks correct when I’m editing but when I save it puts junk where my quotes & commas are

Had the same problem, headrest pushed my head too far forward. I raised the headrest up one notch. Due to the angle of construction of the headrest, this bought me some more room and it was comfortable. 2021 es 350

Does the 2024 ES 350 UL have the headrest that adjusts fore and aft?

None of this generation ES Ultra Luxury models have headrests/restraints with fore and aft adjustments. The 2019 to 2022 F Sport models are the ones with headrests/restraints with fore and aft adjustments. I assume that carried forward with the split of F Sport model offerings for 2023 and later model years into F Sport Design and F Sport Handling model types but haven't seen anyone confirming that.

It might be a nice feature to have if it didn't rattle or suffer failure of some kind. I wish the headrest were an inch more aft if I think about it at all. thanks

There are precise measurements in terms of contact time and tension/compression/force which greatly are dependent on the headrest and seatback angle combo. Any deviation in this due to modifications can significantly increase your risk of injury.

Picture your head being gently "caught" in head rest as soon as movement begins gradually loading up vs. your head slamming into the headrest that's farther away and rebounding off it. Lets set aside the neck for a bit... that's also your brain bouncing around too.

Keep these things stock, folks. Teams and teams of people with supercomputers designed it like that for a reason. Same with any stock seat of any car.
While I appreciate that teams of people designed headrests to protect the user, there are going to be those of us outside the bell curve of their normal mannequin used for the development of the specs. In addition, some of us have medical issues with our neck that lends us to needing a more straight seat without the protruding headrest, which is severely lacking in thoracic spine support in my 2023 Lexus.

FYI - this is how someone else, with another car, fixed the problem. Not sure if something similar would work for you:

I wonder how they look and feel in real life, and how quickly they deflate and just look like saggy cheap pillows, all the while reminding me of what a certain type of driver hangs from the hitch on his pickup truck.

haha yeah at first it reminded me of ball S*** too. But color match is very close to seat color and they are very comfy. It’s like having my mypillow for your head/neck. Has good latching straps and not a rubber band that sagged over time
