Default Parking support brake malfunction

Happened last night driving off after stopped at a traffic light. Rough idle. Had to shut off and restart and I made it home without issue. The rear cross traffic indicator was flashing, check engine, and triangle warning light.

Any insight of the cause and solution?

Have you ever replaced the battery? A low battery will cause all kinds of havoc on these cars.

Just a thought.

What is the parking support brake? I know of a parking brake and a temp hold button but never heard of this...

It provides the auto braking part of the Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking and Rear Cross Traffic Alert [and Rear Pedestrian Detection] feature depending upon model type either an add-on package, add-on option, or standard feature. From page 215 of the 2022 Lexus ES350 Owner's Manual (page number varies by model year version):

PKSB (Parking Support Brake)*
*: If equipped

The Parking Support Brake system consists of the following functions that operate when driving at a low speed or backing up, such as when parking. When the system deter- mines that the possibility of a collision with a detected object or pedestrian is high, a warning operates to urge the driver to take evasive action. If the system determines that the possibility of a collision with a detected object or pedestrian is extremely high, the brakes are automatically applied to help avoid the collision or help reduce the impact of the collision.

It's abrupt and quite startling. It kicked on when I was reversing toward a mailbox, I guess it saw it as a person. This loud, jarring, grinding noise and the car slams to a stop. I guess that achieved the desired result, but man, it woke me up quick!

While backing out of a space at Home Depot some moron decided to just walk behind my car. The auto braking system slammed on the brakes avoiding a collision. The stop was so violent that I thought I had hit him. Saved my butt... and the idiot's too...
