Default Horrible horrible

We just purchased a new es300h and are totally shocked that you can not split the screen. Why in gods name would Lexus choose to make it difficult for customers to use the screen the way it was intended.

Horrible and I hope that this will be corrected soon. We have 3 days to take the car back and at this point if we can not figure this out we will be doing so

Thank you

I don't know if the screen can be split or not, but if this was so important to you, why didn't you test it out before buying the car? This isn't a lemon or an issue specific to your vehicle.

I’m surprised you didn’t notice that when you test drive it or at least ask the salesman if it was such a dealbreaker. If it is that important I would take it back immediately before that paperwork is sent in.

Probably should have done some more research before purchasing if it was such a dealbreaker lol. Not sure why you need to split the screen, but If you use Apple Carplay or Android Auto, I'm pretty sure you have the option of spliting the screen between 2-3 apps like maps, music etc.

People are such a PITA lol

Seriously, you gotta have some sympathy for dealer personnel when they deal with this kind of stuff. "The way *I* want to use it is clearly the way it should be used...nananananaanana" Okay karen, send the car back lol

Can't tell if the person is being serious or not, but assuming Lexus hasn't changed the head unit since our system in 2020, we were able to do full screen carplay without a hitch.

ROFL...

DoubleDime, can you explain in more detail what you're hoping to be able to do?

Doubledime, welcome to CL as a first-timer.

Folks, let's not gang up on a first-time poster...he (or she) may have a legitimate question in his or her eyes, and/or not know much about today's screens. If I asked a question like that, I'd expect a straight answer.

However, Doubledime, it may help if you explain exactly what you mean by a "split-screen". Some manufacturers, such as Buick, Chevy, and Kia, are already integrating double-screen panels into their new 2024 dashes, with a slightly smaller one in front of the driver and a slightly larger one in the center of the dash...the two are housed in one large glass panel surrounding the two of them. The Lexus ES is now several years old, does not use the very latest technology for dash-screens, and may not have that function.
If it doesn't (and I agree it should have been checked out on the test-drive), I wouldn't be in a rush rush to take the car back and try to get rid of it. You obviously wanted an ES, paid for one, and now have one....get your money's worth from it, and chalk it up as a learning experience. In a few years, if not sooner, we will probably see a new ES redesign, with the latest technology that Lexus has to offer.

Best to take the car back at this point. If 99 criteria is met and the one disappointing part is not being able to split the screen, then yes, what a terrible car.

Theres a way to ask a question. This was not a question, its a rant. If the post had been "Is there any way to make the screen show split data?" the responses would not have been the same. "Lexus designs a stupid car because it doesnt immediately do what I think it should do and if we dont figure this out we will return the car" is not a question. Return the car, why would we care?
