Default Mail Notification re: Fuel Seepage 2019-2022

I received this notice in the mail today, essentially saying if you notice a fuel odor, this might apply.

"Lexus has received reports about a fuel seepage from the high-pressure fuel pump (in the subject vehicles.) There is a 10 year time frame on this issue from date of purchase with no mileage limitation."

Thanks, Lee. I can't read it because it's cropped. Can you post a picture of the whole letter that's readable?

This is the third thread on this mailing. The first was 3 months ago in the Customer support program 23le03 thread in which I posted a scanned in copy of what I thought were the relevant parts of the mailing and the second was the Customer Support Program High Pressure Fuel Pump thread which was started up before that thread starter discovered the existence of the first thread.

So, if you want to read the relevant text part of the mailing see the first post of the Customer support program 23le03 thread. (FYI, my scanned text copy omits what read like generic boilerplate corporate blather and I moved the location of the "CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM 23LE03 NOTIFICATION" title from below the affected vehicle list to the top of the quoted text.)

CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM 23LE03 NOTIFICATION

Coverage for High-pressure Fuel Pump - Low Pressure Fuel Seepage

Certain 2019-2022 Model Year ES 350 Vehicles
Certain 2018-2021 Model Year RX 350L Vehicles
Certain 2016-2022 Model Year RX 450h Vehicles
Certain 2018-2022 Model Year RX 450h L Vehicles
Certain 2016-2022 Model Year RX 350 Vehicles

...

Lexus has received reports about a fuel seepage from the high-pressure fuel pump in the subject vehicles. In these reports, customer have experienced fuel odor. While the majority of vehicles will not experience this condition, we are offering the following Customer Support Program.

This Customer Support Program provides coverage as it applies to the high-pressure fuel pump on the models and model years listed above. The specific condition covered by this program is related to a presence of fuel odor in or around the engine bay originating from the high-pressure fuel pump. If the condition is verified, the vehicle will be repaired with a new high pressure fuel pump under the terms of this Customer Support Program.

How can I tell if I have this condition?

If the presence of a fuel odor in or around the engine compartment is detected, the vehicle may be experiencing this condition. The condition covered by this customer support program is specific to the engine compartment fuel odor from the high-pressure fuel pump seepage.

This condition is most commonly noticed upon vehicle start up with the heating/air conditioning system turned on while drawing air through the fresh air vent (non-recirculation). The presence of a fuel odor originating from the high-pressure fuel pump may be detected under these conditions.

The presence of a fuel odor is common after refueling the vehicle and other sources of gasoline. Fuel odor can also be caused by other vehicle conditions. Persistent odor could indicate the condition covered by this program or a different condition not covered exists. If a fuel oder is detected, you should have the vehicle diagnosed by an authorized Lexus dealer.

Coverage
10 years from Date of First Use (DOFU) with no mileage limitaion

Interesting...I have a 22 ES350 UL and have never received anything from Lexus. At least I've never smelled the gas odor.

Apparently, Lexus is phasing the mailing out of the notices.

I (CA location) received mine in mid May, mikemu30 (NJ location) received his end of July, and LeeSoFL (FL location) has received his now. So, it looks like the mailings are phasing over multiple months by geographical region or ZIP code.

Perhaps the notification mailing phase for GA locations hasn't yet occurred. Or, your 22 ES350 isn't a "Certain ... 2022 Model Year ES 350 Vehicle ..." so there's no reason to send you a copy of the notification.

I'm going to tell them I smell gas coming from the tires, all four of them, about 25000 miles from now.
