Default Transmission lag

I noticed a problem with the transmission lag , during acceleration to merge from the ramp with fast traffic behind. It was scary and unbelievable as car with v6 engine and 300hp accelerated without engaging the transmission in drive “Normal mode” . It is my es350 2023. Is it a common problem? Or it needs a computer update? It has only 2000 miles on it.
any comments ASAP please?

Default Computer update?

Is there a computer update ?or a solution to it? Does IS350 f sport has a transmission lag?

Was you slowing down to a very low speed, like almost stop but not 0 yet (gear is at 2/3 and about to back to 1) and all of the sudden you (kind of) floor it to speed up right? The tranny will shift to 1 and then take a big hiccup aka a horrible jerk before up shift to 2/3/4 real quick and speed up to 60mph and everything is smooth again. I don't understand why it jerks like that.

Bring to dealer for them to road test and tell them exactly what happened so they can mimic that situation, see what they say.
IS 350 transmission is very smooth no jerking, engine and the drive is very good and fun, but the car is small and outdated, only good for female or student drivers I think j/k

If you go back and trade it for the hybrid version of the car there is no lag or jerky shifts.

Had 3 instances where my ES Hybrid cut out in the middle of an intersection, no response to gas pedal input. it was quite unnerving as there were cars coming perpendicular. My head went forward as i expected the car to go, no response. I was stomping on the gas pedal. then finally the car woke up. it's as if the computer fell asleep. happened on two other occasions. lasted about 2 seconds (what felt forever) i emailed my local dealer about it requesting to take it in, they never responded. it seemed to happen after a fresh/cold start like being parked all day and then driving along the side streets out onto the stop sign leading to the main road. then i creep into the intersection and cuts off.

That happened a couple of times on our RAV4. Toyota thinks you are about to drive into a vehicle and it won't let you go. It's frustrating because I know how to drive.

Had the same issue on my DW 2019 RAV4 Adv. trim. After performing the TSB-0107-19 reprogramming on that model the issue was solved.

In my experience, many transmissions don't know what to do when you 'change your mind' and hit the throttle at mid-low speed after either partial throttle or coasting. This includes: '17 Volvo XC90 (AT), '18 Civic (CVT), '16 ILX (DCT), '14 Cayman (DCT). While I wouldn't describe the 'changed mind' scenario as an edge case, it seems hard to program for.

agreed, I hate cars that do this

my ES300h CVT and wife’s IS350 8sp have been flawless with transmissions luckily
