Is Toyota fueling ES speculation?
Apparently Toyota continues to tinker with the Crown platform and here’s a new rear wheel drive version. While it says there no versions that will likely come here, might this be a better fit in a modified form for the next ES? Interesting to consider, even if unlikely.

Lexus will not take any chances with the ES. It is their second most sold car in the US.

They'll keep making the ES for a long time (as updated). It's a great selling car at a comfortable price point. Excellent value for you get for under $50,000.00!

Lexus needs to stop screwing up simple things you interact with. The outside door handles are touch buttons, the steering wheel has weird touch sensitive surfaces, they are removing buttons and putting everything in the screen, removing wood trim inside.... Let's hope they don't screw up the next ES.

As I've posted a while ago, I wished for a jacked ES some time ago, a-la Crown. Well guess what... mere minutes ago Toyota teases the new Camry to be a new jacked version which will "reach new heights."
This has potential implications for the ES.
We will know about the next Camry November 14. Mark your calendars. All indications are it's a significant re-skin, using tweaked TNGA a-la Crown. We'll see

Toyota isn't really "tinkering with the Crown platform." It's more accurately said that Toyota is "whoring out the Crown name." As stated in the C/D story, Crown is a longstanding high-end RWD traditional luxury sedan. In my view, the use of the venerable Crown name for the new US Popemobile is an embarrassing attempt by Toyota to invoke tradition just to create a halo of excitement for their stillborn Avalon replacement. The real Crown is the foreign-markets one shown in the C/D story, and I'd trade in my ES for that. But we're not going to get it, because the GS didn't sell here and that's what it would essentially have to replace.
