Camry's not for me, no matter. Lexus is far and away a so much finer, more stylish and more prestigious auto. Camry's always been a decent car for the money though. Appropriate for me (as Billy Joel says) "When I wore a younger man's clothes."
PS Above post spell checked...

It's important to know that at this point no one knows what the future holds. That includes members of this forum. Conjecture is good but it's only conjecture and not definitive. No one knows what engine the ES350 will have in the next generation of cars.. A V6 or a 4 banger hybrid. And Toyota hasn't made any definitive statements as to what direction they're headed. Give Akio a call and maybe he'll let you in on it...
The statement that "Toyota hasn't made any definitive statements as to what direction they're headed. Give Akio a call and maybe he'll let you in on it" is false. Toyota has made a definitive statement: the series of products where they've already axed the V6. It includes Highlander, the Avalon replacement, RX, and now Camry. Next up on the same platform as all of them is the ES, and it's been widely reported by people with far better Lexus connections than you or me that the V6 will be on the chopping block there as well.
Let me put a finer point on it: You have great confidence that I don't know what I'm talking about. I have great confidence that I do. Let's put our money where our mouth is. I publicly challenge you to bet me $100 that the 2025 Lexus ES will make a V6 engine available in any variant. I will bet that it won't. PM me and we can exchange contact information and wagering terms.

Problem is I don't like hybrids. I drive 5,000 mi./year and don't need to incur the extra cost of producing cars with hybrid engines. I don't like the feel of them or the total quietness..
So I'm hoping the new Lexus ES 350 will be offered with a conventional V-6 gasoline engine like the one in my wonderful 2102---which I'll probably simply wind up keeping for the duration of my driving lifetime.

For the benefit of people new to this forum, it's important to note at this point that my post was not based on idle personal speculation, as you imply.

Here's to a V8 in the next ES

My post was specific to the ES 350. I still maintain that no one, including you, knows what engine will go into the 2025 ES350... And as far as information provided by you on this forum, I look forward to reading all of your posts as I find them informative and enlightening. I simply disagree with you and others as far as the ES350 future.

Regardless of who "wins" this debate (I'm sadly in the bye bye V6 camp) I do feel confident that some form of a 4 will be in the base ES at least, even if a V6 somehow remains an option. What I don't get though, is how Toyota still can't smooth out that engine in the same way other manufacturers have. Even the Mercedse E-class (one of the cars the ES is compared to) comes with a turbo-4 in base model but I have driven one and it's surprisingly silky without any of that "gravel in a tin can" sound when you punch it. If you didn't know it you might not know it's not a 6.
Toyota is more than capable of doing it right yet we still can find reviews of the new RX (and I assume NX) of how cheap the engine sounds on acceleration. Fours never sound that great to me anyway, but technology is out there to make it much better.

No way they put a normally aspirated non hybrid V6 in the new ES. If this were the case there would be one available in the new RX which is their most important car but there isn’t.

Okay, Shaboom is in for $20. He adds, "Perhaps others will join in our pool. This could be fun."
