Default Latest Lexus Recall

Recall Status: Remedy Not Available

Recall Number: 23LB03 SAFETY RECALL 23LA03 (Interim Notice 23LB03) - Multiple Models and Model Years - Passenger Airbag May not Deploy

Your Recall Information

Any idea how long it may take Lexus to secure parts and make recall remedy available? Concerned because this one’s a safety issue. Waited a year recently for an Audi recall part!

The article states mid-February 2024 that Toyota told them that notices would go out.

Then you gotta’ hope your dealership can get the required parts. Waited a year recently for Audi dealership to get them. We’ll hope for the best as this is a genuine safety issue.

They should be giving rental cars as those vehicles should be considered unsafe.

Reading the recall it sounds like a sensor will not detect that a passenger is in the seat and therefore an airbag will not deploy. Today I tested my 2021 ES350 (a year and model stated in the recall.).

Car turned on, with no passenger, the signal says “airbag OFF.” I then turned the car off, asked a passenger to be seated, with seatbelt, and restarted the car. With the passenger the signal says, “airbag ON.” Seems to me something is detecting the passengers weight and turning the airbag on and off appropriately. This car was produced in 4/2021.

Anyone else try this yet?

Maybe all of this recalls are 350 ES but not all 350 ES are in this recall.

If you read Toyota's press release, Toyota Recalls Certain 2020-2022 Toyota and Lexus Vehicles, you'll see just 2021 ES250, 2020 - 2022 ES 300H, and 2020 - 2021 ES350 are on the recall list.

Of the ESs on the recall list, the recall is because the front passenger seat OCS sensors COULD have been improperly manufactured. The "could" means not necessarily all the sensors are defective or that all the recalled ESs will have defective sensors that fail to operate properly.

Yep, just my thoughts. All the recalled vehicles are ES models but not all ES units of those three years necessarily require work.

FYI: The quote you are commenting on only illustrated the ES models. The recall also include other Lexus models, including my RX. Your point is still fair, I just wanted to offer that clarification.

Right. Gonna’ get spouse to participate in test of my car this afternoon to see if it functions properly. I presume that if the sign is lighting/not lighting properly, I’m okay, whether or not I get a recall notice in the mail🤔
But if it seems to be working properly and I therefore don’t take it in in response to a received recall notice, will my car’s record show an open recall that could be prejudicial at time of sale/trade-in?

Mine works fine. Wonder if I need to visit dealership to avoid my profile showing open recall. Wonder if they’ll take my word by telephone that the recall is inapplicable to me and not show an open recall for me, as mine operates as designed.

Yeah but it may stop working next week or month or year. I think that sensor should be changed because it’s free.

I would think it will always be free (even after warranty) because it’s a recall item.

Will you take the time to have yours inspected even if it’s working fine? Will they replace the sensor if yours is working fine?
