2024 ES 300h vs the 2025?

I've been in the market for a new ES 300h Luxury for years, but haven't pulled the trigger due to low inventory and high prices. Now I can get a 2024 in the color and trim I want, with a $3K discount off the MSRP. But also now, we're about nine months shy of seeing the 8th gen, 2025 model in showrooms. I wondering if it is worth waiting for? The preview videos on YouTube aren't particularly illuminating, but from what I have seen, it looks like the 2025 grill is unfortunately getting bigger still. I like the idea of getting the latest/greatest in innovation and technology, but I'm also weary of buying the 8th gen incarnation the first year it debuts. Any opinions or advice out there to help me decide? When paying almost $60K out the door, I want to make a good decision. Thanks in advance for your reply.

I’ve had my 2021 ES 350 for three years now. My plan is to see what the 2025 looks like, what the powertrain winds up being, etc. If I can get the traditional V-6 gasoline engine, FWD, I’ll buy one first or second year. But if they go with 4 cyl. turbo and/or hybrid and/or all wheel drive, I’ll grab one of the last 2024’s and be set with it for my final 10-15 years of driving.
These 7 Gen configured cars are very perfect for me in every way and I can certainly recommend them for you. Carefully consider buying one. Excellent cars. See what the Gen 8 styling is like then pull the trigger.

The 2025 ES hasn't even been revealed yet, so anything you see online right now is all speculation.
That being said, the 2024 being the final production year, all the bugs have been worked out of the 7th gen. You know exactly what you are going to get.
As for the 8th gen, many are hesitant to get a first model year. Yes there could be more bugs and of course fixes along the way as years go by, but that never deterred me from getting a brand new model year. We have a 2013 GS 350 in the family which has had absolutely zero issues and feels as good as it did day 1. I had a 2015 TLX before and loved that car for the 6yrs and 105k miles driven that I had it. I for one, have not, and won't ever be afraid to buy first year models.
You said you want to make a good decision, then that is solely on you regardless of what opinions others may share.

No chance that they will keep the V6. I am confident they will go all hybrid.

I've had two Lexus cars with the V-8, and three with the V-6, and I agree with the post above that the current V-6 is much to be desired and that the current ES seems to have all the kinks worked out of it. I have not had my ES for long, but I did find my desired configuration (UL, navy blue, tan interior) on the showroom floor, so I got that one and am extremely happy with it.
PS: My little granddaughters love riding in the back seat under glass roof. If they're happy, I'm happy.

I may wait for the new gen to be released and then basically make a killing on the last of the V6s. My 19 is still pretty perfect with 70K on the clock but why not do an upgrade like that and have that car for another ten years or so.

Your purchase of a brand new 2024 ES may turn out to have been a stroke of genius. The 8th Gen configuration may be a disappointment for many of us traditional ES owners. In any circumstances, you decision will stand you in good stead for many years to come.
Enjoy what I’m sure is a gorgeous, trouble free and totally reliable new car!

Interior: We don't know what the inside will be like, but if other recent new Lexus models are any indication, it's unlikely the new one will be an upgrade in materials quality.
Styling: The outside is already the subject of reliable spying; it should look like a cross between the current car, the RX's grille and the LS's rear quarter windows, in short not a radical change.
Tech: The current model already has Lexus's latest safety nannies and Lexus's new interface. Not much change likely on this front.
Bottom line: Unless you want the Crown AWD powertrain, there's really not much reason to wait.

I doubt you'll be seeing the next ES until Model Year 2026. The new Camry is slated for 2025 and the ES is usually delayed by a year. So keep enjoying the 7ES until 2026.

the new camry for 2025 is just objectively terrible. they just took the original camry and threw on a beak nose bumper and a new dash board and door cards. the interior is a decent upgrade though i'll give it that.

Lexus never seems to completely redesign anything. The new RX and IS models are 95% the same vehicle. The GX will be the first real redesign. This being said, I bought a 300h F-Sport Handling on Saturday because I saved $9,500 off MSRP. I pointed out the redesign and my price negotiations lasted 20 minutes at the most with a ceramic tint thrown in. Judging by all the new models that are out, the ES will get that ‘snub nosed’ look (not a fan) and more than likely a price increase. I would rather have the savings on the MPG and price now.
