I've lurked here some before thinking about moving from my LS430 over to a ES350. The plan was to wait another year or two but plans changed quickly when my LS430 got totaled in a hail storm a few days ago (second one that's happened to). So, now I'm having to look at getting a car fairly fast because I the insurance will be coming for my LS probably within a week. I've been all over the place looking online at Avalon, GS350, older ES350 (6th gen) but keep coming back to the ES350 (7th Gen). The plan for waiting another year or two in order to wait out a 2023 coming down into my price range. That all being said, I've found a 2019 in the color I want (Red) as well as a 2022. Obviously the 2022 is going to be more expensive but it also only has 13k miles vs 50k miles. What would be some of the real differences between a 19 vs 22? I'm believe the Nav was updated to touch screen from what I remember but is there anything else?

Also, is there an upgraded stereo system like a Mark Levenson I should make sure to get? Any other significant options I should look out for?

Always buy the newest model with the lowest miles that your budget will allow. That's really the decision tree for you. As for ML, I wanted it and wouldn't buy mine without but I'm not particularly budget-constrained and I like music, neither of which may apply to you.

‘22 has wireless Apple Car Play—-a big deal for me. Brings Waze and your whole computer offerings to the car screen.
But the mileage difference is huge and that trumps everything else. Do a CarFax on it—-rule out a collision or damage event. Original owner? Absent any adverse surprises, the ‘22 is your better bet.

I would like the better ML system as well. I'm assuming it would say ML on the stereo if it had one similar to the LS?

It will not be similar to the LS's regardless, but yes, the better stereo will say Mark Levinson atop the console and on each driver's door.

Wonder if there is any kind of add on device that would make it work with Android. I run Android as well and would really like that feature. I thought I heard where 2023+ has Android Auto which was another reason I was trying to wait to buy an ES for a another year or so.

There are threads about that as well. I believe they added AA for the 2020 MY.

Wireless Apple Carplay was not added until 2023 MY. Not sure about Android Auto, but saw someone say it was added in 2020my.

With that being said conversion to wireless is relatively cheap and very simple for any 7th gen that has wired Carplay or AA capability. Several threads on it should you purchase a 2022.

I was in a similar situation in October after my 2010 HS250h got totalled and had to buy fairly quickly. I went with a 2022 ES300h.UL. I preferred the newer car because it has both AA and Carplay (wired for both). It also has both touch screen and touch pad with the touch screen shifted closer to the driver for easier access There was also a mild update to the grill and LED headlights for 2022. Other than that the earlier versions of the ES (2019-2021) were basically the same. I like the Ultra luxury because I believe if you are going to drive a Lexus ES, it should have all the bells and whistles, otherwise a loaded Camry would suffice.

I guess I stand corrected. My 2021 ACP is wired, I thought it went wireless next year. But not until 2023.
I bought an adapter. It worked but imperfectly. Sent it back and bought a more expensive one. Same problem. Sometimes the manual dash volume control dial is ineffective. Have to unplug, wait a minute or two and replug. That usually does the trick until engine is shut down, restarted and same thing often happens. I’ve learned to live with it. No big deal. Can’t stand exposed cables in the cabin.

I added the Unavi system to my 2019 ES350 UL for Android Auto. Paid about 600 for it and installed it with my brother's help. It operates by moving the trackpad left/right and using the buttons to change screen locations. Occasionally I lose connection to android auto and have to either tell it to reconnect with bluetooth or reset the Unavi(usually do this first when it starts acting up and it just works afterwards). That said, it has wireless and I can hook my phone into a fast charger instead of it. So while it would have been nice if Lexus could retrofit the 2019, I can live with this solution.

caveman Sorry that one of your 430's got totaled.used to see you in the 430 forums for years when I had mine.Had mine 9 years before getting totaled.
I will start with the ML system, it is not near as Good as the ls 430 system the bass cant match the ls.in the 350 ultra luxury the ride is noisier then the 430 however the ride is smooth and pleasing and the v-6 has plenty for punch but you will miss the v-8.
I have been pretty happy with the ES but one thing to note if you use the leg extension in the 430 I would highly recommend getting the luxury or the ultra luxury model as they are only in those.Another must have in my opinion is the triple beams headlights about as good as the HIDs in the 430.
Out of the 50+ cars I have owned the LS 430 was one of my favorites. Best of luck!

The US sold 2020 model year ESs produced through September 2019 do not have Android Auto and US Lexus hasn't had any program to add it post production. 2020 ESs produced October 2019 and later do have Android Auto built-in.

The same capabilities split applies to the cellular network provider for the vehicle's Data Communication Module (DCM) and in car Wi-Fi. All ESs produced (including all of 2019 model year) through September 2019 use Verizon as the cellular network provider; whereas, ESs produced after October 2019 use AT&T as the cellular network provider. Since 4G/LTE cellular network coverage is pretty much the same for those two providers, the main concern regarding cellular network provider is if one wants to use/subscribe in-car Wi-Fi and their cell phone cellular network provider offers an in car Wi-Fi bundling discount.
