We are getting dumber though.
No wonder why old people are better at navigating the terrain.

Hagstrom Remember? Or the AAA trip tiks - they were always fun.

No kidding. I hardly remember any phone numbers anymore. I never have to dial manually.

I have a trunk lid related newbie question for a 2022 ES (2nd full week with the car today): Can the automatic trunk opening be overridden so that when one presses the switch above the tail light, it simply releases the lid for opening rather than opening all the way with the motor? In other words, are there any settings that allow the trunk to open like a non-motorized trunk if desired?

For example, one of the settings on our old SUV allows the hatch to be opened manually when you press the hatch switch directly, and automatically when the remote is used. And even when the system is set to full auto, if you press and hold the hatch switch, it'll revert to manual open and not swing up under power.

One more newbie question.

The front center speaker has what looks like a button on the right side of it.
What is it for?

That's the headlight control sensor that is used by the automatic headlight function to sense the level of ambient light to determine whether or not the headlights should be on or off. (See the illustration on page 156 of the 2024 LEXUS ES250, ES350 OWNER'S MANUAL USA AND CANADA ONLY which shows it.)

Be aware that if you want to remove the center speaker cover there's a electrical connector to the sensor on the underneath side that needs to be disconnected before completely removing the speaker cover. (There's enough slack in the wiring to allow lifting the speaker cover enough to reach in and disconnect the connector.)

And one more...

While I was watching the Northside Lexus 2023 ES-350 video and she was demonstrating the Multi-Info screen
one of the screens shows a Compass.

That's all that was displayed on her screen.
On my screen I get the compass and the name of the street I am on.

How did she turn off the street name?
Is it because she was in adjustment mode and when she exited it, it would show the street?

On a US sold 2024 Lexus ES 350 with 12.3 inch touch screen with an active Drive Connect with navigation subscription I looked at I see the same "no street name shown" Multi Information Display (MID) compass display as you're seeing in the "2023 Lexus ES Full Tutorial - Deep Dive" video. (I didn't have any navigation route guidance working so I can't attest to the route guidance function not altering the MID's navigation linked display tab where the "route guidance to destination" and compass information is displayed.)

I don't why your Canadian sold ES is displaying a street name on the MID's compass tab screen and US sold ESs aren't. Perhaps, irt is just another difference in functionality between US and Candian sold vehicles.
