I would have immediately told him "No".

I'm going to be making some more calls tomorrow to Lexus.
The US sold ES standard features and package confirguration does not apply to Canadain sold ESs like yours.

I'm fairly sure the Lexus Canada 2024 ES configurations is the same as the 2025 configurations. If I'm correct, a Lexus Canada sold 2024 "basic" ES350 like yours includes as a standard features "12.3" Touch Screen" and "Lexus Interface with Safety Connect (up to 10 yr. trial), Service Connect (up to 10 yr. trial), Remote Connect (3 yr. trial) and Drive Connect (3 yr. trial)". (See the Lexus Canada, https://www.lexus.ca/lexus/en/automo...s?model=ES-350, 2025 ES web page "SPECIFICATIONS" tab, ES 350 "INFOTAINMENT" section standard features checkmarks. Scroll down or click the "INFOTAINMENT" section sub tab for a quicker jump to that part of the web page.)

So, if you buy a 2024/2025 ES 350 in Canada you're going to get a 12.3 inch screen with an trial active Drive Connect Navigation features as standard regardless of whether or not you wanted those features.

I have yet another one to add to my Lexus annoyances.

I went to check if I had deleted my name in the profiles.

Under, Saved Profile:
-My Name
If I select it it asks for my 6-digit PIN number!
WTF!

How the hell do I know what my PIN number is when I didn't put it in?
Then if I choose:
Reset the PIN it asks for my tel. number!

No way, Jose!

So my annoyances continued.
While messing around in these screens I was presented with a reset of settings.
Sure why not, I thought maybe it would erase my Profile.

No such luck. But it did erase all my radio preferences and put back the beep that occurs each time
you touch the screen!
It took quite a while before I got all that sh_t straightened out again.

One more item I need to mention.
This one totally shocked me.

I mean I am driving a luxury $50K + vehicle right?
Just by chance I was looking behind the steering wheel at the steering column.

I almost fell out of my vehicle when I saw that the steering column is covered by a flimsy piece of material !
No, not a proper vinyl cover or piece of leather or leatherette. This is an el-cheapo piece of material.

Good lord !!!

How often do you look there? And, it was adequate to the job, wasn't it?

Well I didn't look there in five months, but that still isn't a valid justification in my estimation.
I mean how much money are they trying to save on a 50K+ car? Come on.
A piece of material that can easily come loose, tear, etc.
Lexus a penny-pincher? Huh?

My Camry had a proper column shield. Actually all of my previous cars did.

Question: are our cars steer buy wire and was your Camry? If not, perhaps, having a full steering column that goes to the steering rack up front was a reason for a "proper column shield"

I don't know all the nitty gritty mechanics of steering wheels etc.
I suspect that the retractable steering wheel option probably enters into this picture.
But even with it, it's possible to build a column cover made of attractive durable plastic (in sections) that
can 'telescope' in and out.

This isn't rocket science.
How is one supposed to dust the current cover without dislodging it?
Heck I didn't even dust it yet but it's still slipping out on one side.

Does anyone else here have a 'ribbit-like' frog sound coming from their car?

It usually comes soon after I start my car but can appear really any time.
It's a very faint sound and so could be easily missed by most.
It lasts just a few seconds and then is gone.

I'd really like to know what it's all about.
I'd like to get to the bottom of this.
There are two remaining issues with my car now and this is one of them.

Perhaps a more accurate description of the sound I am hearing is a Geiger counter like sound.
It's very similar to that but much fainter/softer.

As I mentioned it can appear almost any time I am driving.
Of course to hear it you would need to be driving with the radio/music off and the fans on low/off.

The sound is coming from somewhere behind my left shoulder.

My guess is that this is sensor-related.
But with dozens and dozens of sensors (probably close to 100) I couldn't begin to guess which one(s) it could be.

Am I the only Lexus ES350 driver on this forum who has heard this sound?

Today a few more weird things happened for the first time when I returned to my car in a parking lot.

I opened the car door to enter but quickly noticed the mirror hadn't retracted like it normally does.
So I got out of the car and locked the car door touching the door handle.
The mirror still didn't retract.

OK. But now I was locked out of my car. I seem to recall reading something about the car not letting you back in until after a certain period of
time after locking the door, is this correct?
Can I override this, or disable this setting?

What could be stopping the mirror from retracting automatically?
Could this be related to another recent post I made where I described my radio button not working after I had
done three things before turning off my engine:
1. Retracting my mirrors manually
2. Put my lights into manual mode setting
3. Left my radio on

Double check the mirror setting button is set in the middle (Auto) and not to the left(2) or right(1).

Ah thank you very much, that was it!
After I tried the manual retraction switch and didn't like it I had set it to 'always open',
thinking I had put it into Auto mode.

I have been carrying my phone with me in my car recently (yes it's unusual for me) so that I could record the
'geiger counter' sound I describe above when it happens.

Well I finally got a good recording today and will attach it here (below) so you folks can listen
to it and identify what it is, if possible.

Again, I can't believe I am the only Lexus driver here who has this sound.

I have a couple more questions in addition to my last one above.

Why is there a beep when the radio is on, the car is placed into Park and the ignition is turned off?
My 2007 Lexus ES-350 never did that.

How can I turn on the mirror compass and how does it work?
I've tried pressing the fourth button from the left for more than three seconds but I don't see any change.
