Well as I mentioned yesterday I just picked up my new 2024 ES-350.
I have a bunch of questions I'm hoping can be answered here.
1. The trunk door. I noticed it opens slowly on its own. Can it also close slowly on its own, or do you do the full close manually?
2. How do I start my car without the front media screen turning on?
3. Can I play my radio like the good old days? That is, push the radio button/**** and listen, WITHOUT the media screen turning on?
4. Can I change radio stations without using the media screen? I think there are controls for this on the steering wheel, but can I use them WITHOUT the screen turning on?
5. The media screen is now asking me to sign in and use a new password. It didn't initially.
How do I tell it I don't want to sign in and I don't want to set a password?
6. I was told by my dealer that I don't have to touch the headlights. Everything is automatic (on/off).
I noticed that the lights come on in my garage and stay on when I turn off my engine. Over time, wouldn't
this drain the battery more than if I had turned the lights off manually before turning off the engine?
Needless to say that whole front screen is a PITA for me and may be giving me EMF issues already.
Thanks!

The trunk opens and closes slowly. Push button in the car to open or use your foot if so equipped to open then use the button on the trunk lid to close.
You can turn off the display by going into menu and "display off".
You can play the radio with the screen off, switch channels (presets) from the steering wheel and the station will appear on the screen for about 3 seconds.
Can't answer for the password question
Headlights get set to "auto" and will turn on at dusk. You can set them to illuminate earlier or later in settings. Otherwise no need to touch the stalk.![Big Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggthumpup.gif)
When you enter the garage it is apparently dark enough that the lights will turn on by themselves. When you shut down they will stay on for a number of seconds that you can adjust. I think the default is 30 seconds then shut off automatically. No battery worries.
GOOD LUCK with the new car...

I haven't used the trunk opener from inside the car yet.
So far I have just stood at the back of the car and pressed the button on the right side to open it.
I have just looked twice for the button to close the trunk, and honestly I don't think my car has it!
Do all ES-350's have it?
Where is it located exactly? The manual sure doesn't help in this regard.
It talks about closing it manually pulling down on the grip and pushing it closed.
It does talk about using a switch but I can't see it.

Can you open the trunk from the inside of the vehicle or from your key fob?
To quote the tutorial, "if you're opening your trunk with your smart access key, the button from the interior of the vehicle, or even the kick sensor, you always have the capability of closing a power trunk with the power trunk close button on the left hand side of the trunk lid. Just push and release."
Maybe if you don't have any of those three capabilities, you don't have the power close feature?

I did try using the key fob (closing the trunk) just an hour or so ago but it didn't work.
I also tried to activate the 'kick sensor' but it didn't work either.

If you kept the window sticker it will list all options on your car. You can check to see just what you have - and don't have...

Yes I can open the trunk from inside my car.
Well let's break this down OK?
You said maybe if I don't have ANY of the three capabilities...
Opening trunk from inside the car: Yes
Smart access key? What is this, the Key FOB or something else?
My FOB could not open the trunk (third button down).
Next to the Trunk image on my FOB it says HOLD, what does that mean?
Kick sensor: No (I tried many times and nothing happened).
Power trunk close button: No I don't have this button. (I took photos).
So the only thing that doesn't seem to be working is the key FOB trunk button.
It appears my model doesn't come equipped with the trunk close button or the kick sensor.
If my key FOB is supposed to open/close the trunk door it's not a big deal for me.
I would rarely if ever use it.
If it's supposed to open/close the door, there is a good possibility that the tech guys disabled it by accident when
disabling a whole bunch of other stuff.

That's all I know at this point. Maybe someone else understands this better.
