Interesting that my “Plan B” list includes new Acura TLX (not the S version). If the Gen 8 ES 350 is a big disappointment, I’ll be considering the TLX and the Genesis G80 next time around. Other posters have discouraged G80 for reliability reasons, as well as BMW and Audi. So after those eliminations, if you want a comfortable, reliable, upscale sedan under $60,000 (egads, are we really talking those kind of numbers for a new car these days!), Acura is about all that’s left.
The Type S, and even the other trims, punch above their weight class and they're good value for money. However, all both engines left me wanting more when I test drove both. I'm excited to see what Acura does for 3rd gen TLX.

I have a 2022 ES300h UL (Not F-Sport) and I also feel like the steering tightens just a bit in Sport mode. Tried it out on a curving highway and I am pretty sure switching to sport gave a bit of a heavier feel to the steering. I too like soft steering but sometimes on the highway, a tighter steering can be nice.

I still have my Acura TSX, although I also have a new ES 300h. I wish the acura could be bought as a hybrid in the TLX. I may have gotten that instead. I find the acrura to be a pleasure to drive and much sportier than the ES with just about the same interior room.
