That's the thing... The V6 engine is so smooth and powerful that I'd be very reluctant to give it up for something less smooth and powerful. I have to admit that I drove a hybrid loaner and was impressed with the quiet but not the power. The V6 is just a pleasure to drive and is bulletproof.

i drove an es350 once. thing was all wobbly and rumbly. brand new loaner. same for rx. sounded like a truck.

if you want something (gas) with authority to it, you need something like a bmw twin turbo i6. but even then.. fumes.. noise.. lag/delay.. quick though once all the dinosaur parts "spool up" lol

The ES350 is far from wobbly etc but yeah it's no twin turbo like in my son in laws M4😁 The prior gen RX perhaps a bit noisier but the RX hybrid we have now is just fine - plenty of power and yes you'll hear some groans from the 4 cyl when you push it but otherwise silky smooth and silent.

The V6 isn't noisy, "wobbly" ??? WTH does that mean? It's so quiet sometimes I don't know that it's running.

Exactly, not even close.

When I test drove the 23' ES 350 it was a really good experience. That's definitely a bulletproof V6 Toyota engine. The V6 sound, although noticeable, was very quiet and refined; and that was after driving the 355hp V6 Acura TLX Type-S.

If it hadn't been for the fact that the ES 350 had a deep paint scratch, that would have been my car now. The 350 was my first option due to my concerns about battery reliability and wheel power. But after 9 months of 300h ownership, If I had to do it again, the hybrid will be my first option and almost only option. No worries about Starter, Alternator, Brake Pads, weekly gas fill-ups...

Let see this again @ 7yr+

I don’t think they will do that.
Here’s what I think: I am yet to see a picture of the 8ES - prototype or mule. I bet they are testing it somewhere and people see it but they cannot notice any difference so it passes as a normal 7ES. They may use the current ES to test the new components which I belive are not many. That means there will not be too many changes, they will keep the hybrid powertrain, add bigger screen/new interior and change the looks. The current chassis cannot accept bigger battery so no Plug-in hybrid.
If this is the case, the 8ES will appear out of nowhere. Actually, it is not late for it to appear as 2025 model.

Yes, the IS was supposed to be a performance sedan. Even the turbo hybrids with traditional auto gear boxes like the Rx500h just don’t cut it when competing with BEV performance like the EV6 GT.

For IS to remain competitive, it has to be a reasonably fast EV.

When I had a brand new ES350 loaner, the V6 was causing the car to wobble and shake side to side at idle while waiting at a red light. It was slight but enough to notice as i was coming off a hybrid which had obviously no ICE lumper running at a red light. When you drive ICE after driving hybrid and especially EV, you notice how downright violent and unrefined engines can be, compared.

I think you guys just get used to it and say "it's smooth."

It's also a proven, reliable engine! We didn't get the V6 because I like the idea of having the power and not needing it versus the needing the power and not having it scenario. This was during COVID though and the ES300h's were scarce without the dealership having one to drive but would've probably gotten one if they didn't have a year or so waiting time. We got our ES350 UL in less than three weeks during COVID, which I was pretty impressed with. I do like the V6 though too and what it lacks over the hybrid it makes up for in the power department (not that it'll set speed records but it's got decent pick up for what it is).

Would I trade ours for an ES300h now..................Nope because I can get 34-35 mpg on the highway (calculated by me, not the car), which I'm Happy with. I'm actually waiting for Toyota to get the Crown Signia in the dealership's because I'm interested in that. I actually wish that they'd bring the Sport over here with the Crown Max powertrain but am not holding my breath on that one. The RX 450+ Hybrid has caught our eye recently too!

Thought I would through in a positive here for the ES300h powertrain. Trip back from beach place around 190 miles had to avoid interstate because of accidents and got 50.1 mpg with outside temp around 80. Most I have seen and with interstate about half I have seen 47.5.

Ha! I figured you would come on over to the dark side after you spent some quality time with a modern Lexus hybrid. Too many people base their opinions on old models - or Priuses. The technology has come a long way. They aren’t for everybody, but their pros outweigh their cons in my opinion.

My ES350 runs so smoothly that I have to remind myself to shut it off before getting out.
