Unhappy Side mirrors and automatic car wash

Hello, I received my first Lexus (350es sedan) a month ago and love the wonderful ride it gives (but I do miss my 2011 Avalon!) and it's beautiful look. I live on the beach and need to wash the cars a couple times a week. I went into my "touchless" (no brushes, just the floppy fabric) car wash vendor and when I came out the passenger side mirror was dangling! Like a dead bird! Panicked I held it up and turned it and it snapped back into position. Now I'm so nervous about going back but I can't hand was my car all the time. I've seen very little similar incidents on forums or when searching the web. Has this happened to anyone and can it be "stopped" by any fold/unfold mirror options? Thanks.

I'd just fold the mirrors in before entering...

Well, we did fold in the mirrors by hand. Perhaps that isn't a good option and maybe they popped out during the wash and then flopped down. I might try hitting the appropriate place on the mirror button itself to "manually" close them. I didn't know this option was available till I read the manual just the other day. Honestly, I'm surprised there is such a gap on the stem of the mirrors. Seems too open and a bit fragile to me. Guess I'm too used to the old fixed mirrors which were very strong and supported well when we pushed those in by hand. TY

Not a good idea to fold them by hand. These are very specific.

I would not consider those floppy fabric “touchless”. While not as scratchy as the brushes, they will still scratch up your clear coat. FWIW the only carwash I would consider are the ones with just water sprays.

I don't trust any automated car wash, or even anyone but myself to hand wash my vehicles. It's a chore to do them myself, but worth it. I think of it like going to the gym or taking a hike...great exercise!
