Why you need to write all this just to convince me/make me a liar in front of others?

I don’t care about the Model Y. I care about the 2016 Model S (for example) - so oil change, oil filter change, 12V battery, brake fluid, cabin filter…

Now, Model Y, any depreciation?

Default What kinda car do you have?

For Tesla motors that have an oil filter: The motors need a filtration system for fluid health and It was easier and cheaper for Tesla at the time to just source an external filter from an outside supplier. Tesla though evolves quick and has since deleted the external filters and integrated them inside the motor for 2024 models -- same motors more or less. So yeah current Teslas don't have external filters anymore. They're internal now. And they aren't a part of regular owner maintenance. They are not called for the owner to replace. They just exist. In the same way your ICE engines have bearings in them. I don't go and shout "Oh your engine has bearings! gotta replace them!"

Brake fluid -- same thing. Optional -- but it is brakes so tesla recommends you check every 4 years for corrosion. Brakes are never ever touched on a Tesla anyway. This means my wheels stay clean. I almost never touch my brake pedal. I get incredibly powerful braking from magnets alone =)

There is effectively zero maintenance on a Tesla unless you want to argue car washes are maintenance. Then sure. or replacing your wiper blades.

I have plenty of friends with 60-100k mile Teslas who have never lifted a finger other than replacing tires. I'm in the tesla community every day and nobody is replacing oil filters lol. So either you know that's a bold face lie or you need to learn.

There's several Model 3s popping up with 300k-400k miles now, without anything but new tires.

And a 12V battery (Teslas since 2022 don't have your typical ICE car 12V battery anymore) is a consumable item. Something you replace every 5-8 years--disingenuous to consider that regular maintenance. a stretch. My 2023 and later Teslas use a 16V lithium ion battery. it's about half the size of a pack of baby wipes. i don't think the 16v will ever need replacing during my ownership but if it does its just a pull tab and a couple bolts lol.

But again... we're talking about oil changes on this thread and my comment was purely the best interval is no interval and I still stand by it.

Put it this way, I haven't changed any oil for over a year now and it's a wonderful thing.
The car you have is it a Tesla or fully electric car?

I voted ‘Other’ because now that the wife and I are both retired, I replace the oil on a yearly basis. Usually that comes out to be in the 6K-8K miles range.

Note, nothing wrong with another oil thread. People’s opinions change and new oil technologies develop. If one is annoyed with a new oil thread, one can skip it.

I voted for 5,000 and was going to list the reasons why but after reading the Tesla BS I forgot why and now just want to go to the Tesla forums and write about my ES 350.

Ditto … Work from home most days so don’t drive as much commuting. Did the first change at 800 miles then every 6-months or 5,000 miles whichever comes first.

That's what I did (at 1,000 miles) and will do (every 5,000 miles or 6 months) for as long as I own the car (likely 15-20 years) since I am an old school driver and know that with some TLC, the engine and transmission are unlikely to have any repairs.

Always used .Mobil 1 a d always changed at 10,000. Between both vehicles have on multiple vehicles 1 6 million miles and of course no engine problems. No offense but I will be guilded by no one here but the manufacturer of my vehicle and oil for 10,000 miles. Two guys out on YouTube with Toyota Tundra pickups with over 1.5 million miles on each. When asked with original engine what was your engine oil interval schedule both said 10,000 miles what Toyota says I use synthetic oil.
