Oil change Interval Poll ES 350 V6

I’m curious as to what the general consensus is regarding oil change intervals (not to be confused with the routine 5k service intervals). Oil change is referring to new oil and filter. Im aware 10,000 mile intervals are recommended. Assuming you are the typical driver (no towing or crazy driving), how many miles do you allow to lapse before doing an oil and filter change on your V6? Options are 5k, 10k and other (please explain).

I haven’t changed mine yet. Bought it the Saturday after St. Patrick’s Day and haven’t even put 2k miles on it. Since I’m mostly in the city, it will be every 6 mo 5k.

I do a lot of hwy driving and do oil changes and tire rotations every 10000kms (6250miles). I use OEM filters (bought 20 from the dealer and got a slight discount) and Pennzoil Platinum 0w20. I bought my 22 ES 350 F Sport brand new July 8/22 and have about 107600kms (67250miles) on it already! I also recently completed a ATF drain and fill using Lexus (Toyota) WS fluid from the dealer for $10 CAD per L (about $7.3 USD per L). I used just under 4L. Fluid came out looking new. My next task is to replace spark plugs and I have asked the dealer to order these and the two gaskets (plenum and throttle body).
If you do a lot of city driving, 5000miles is the MAX I would consider going before changing the oil. I would probably not go over 5000kms (3125miles)! With hwy driving, it’s much less wear and tear on the engine, so the interval can be extended out. But I’m changing the oil every 2-3 months (@10k km intervals). The 16000km (10000mile interval) is if you are just doing hwy driving, under the most ideal of conditions, in ideal weather. But even then, I would not recommend waiting that long. Oil is relatively inexpensive vs engine wear. Even if you just drain the oil and don’t change the filter for 1 interval, your engine will thank you!

I voted 5k for Mike. But really the best oil change intervals is never having to do one.

I also watched a bunch of other videos that recommended replacing them. I guess, if they are in good shape one could reuse the existing gaskets, but then there is a great risk of a vacuum leak. They aren’t too much $$ compared to the hassle of having to replace them later.

Teslas also have oil and filters which have to be changed, cabin filters, 12/16V batteries, brake fluid…
Tesla owners tend to convince other people that there is no maintenance on Teslas, but that’s not true.

That's a disingenuous argument and you know it.
For Tesla motors that have an oil filter: The motors need a filtration system for fluid health and It was easier and cheaper for Tesla at the time to just source an external filter from an outside supplier. Tesla though evolves quick and has since deleted the external filters and integrated them inside the motor for 2024 models -- same motors more or less. So yeah current Teslas don't have external filters anymore. They're internal now. And they aren't a part of regular owner maintenance. They are not called for the owner to replace. They just exist. In the same way your ICE engines have bearings in them. I don't go and shout "Oh your engine has bearings! gotta replace them!"
Brake fluid -- same thing. Optional -- but it is brakes so tesla recommends you check every 4 years for corrosion. Brakes are never ever touched on a Tesla anyway. This means my wheels stay clean. I almost never touch my brake pedal. I get incredibly powerful braking from magnets alone =)
There is effectively zero maintenance on a Tesla unless you want to argue car washes are maintenance. Then sure. or replacing your wiper blades.
I have plenty of friends with 60-100k mile Teslas who have never lifted a finger other than replacing tires. I'm in the tesla community every day and nobody is replacing oil filters lol. So either you know that's a bold face lie or you need to learn.
There's several Model 3s popping up with 300k-400k miles now, without anything but new tires.
And a 12V battery (Teslas since 2022 don't have your typical ICE car 12V battery anymore) is a consumable item. Something you replace every 5-8 years--disingenuous to consider that regular maintenance. a stretch. My 2023 and later Teslas use a 16V lithium ion battery. it's about half the size of a pack of baby wipes. i don't think the 16v will ever need replacing during my ownership but if it does its just a pull tab and a couple bolts lol.
But again... we're talking about oil changes on this thread and my comment was purely the best interval is no interval and I still stand by it.
Put it this way, I haven't changed any oil for over a year now and it's a wonderful thing.
