Default Maintenance Required Notice

Hello members. My previous Lexus vehicles were all pre 2013 so maintenance reminders were slightly different. My ‘21 ES has 13k miles and this maintenance notice popped up. How do I know what maintenance it needs? Is this an oil change reminder? I thought these pop up at 5k, 10k, 15k etc intervals. TIA

They popup at every 5000 miles.

But you can change the interval or cancel them or even what you want it to monitor. It’s buried in the submenus but you can access it.

Ahh ok. So the last time it was reset, was probably around 8k miles. I just did an oil change so will wait until 15k to reset and be back on the correct interval. Thank you guys for the quick replies!

For oil changes, I merely reset the TRIP B ODO at each change so I know roughly when the next will be needed. I just dismiss the system generated reminders when they appear.

Yes, I dismissed the notice that appeared on the Nav screen and it stayed away. However the notice on the instrument cluster comes back at every re-start. Guess I’ll have to go into the submenus to reset.

It’s my understanding that Toyota and Lexus vehicles will display the maintenance reminder every 5k miles just as a reminder and nothing more. Specific maintenance items required is determined by your mileage or time according to the manufacturer checklists found in the manual. On my previous cars, I simply printed out their checklists and did whatever was required based on my mileage. I kept all checklists and receipts in a binder.

You can't change the interval of the Multi Information Display (MID) reminders. All you can do is reset them to restart the 5000 (8000 km) and 10000 mile interval countdown.

Every 3,000-5,000 miles, perform an oil and filter change for good maintenance habits.
If you have an ES350, also perform a transmission fluid change as well as belts, plugs. Every 35-50k. Sone people also change the transmisison filter, but i am not sure if the 350 thas one. check with Mike.
Lexus manual may also require replacing the engine coolant but I forgot its been a while.
For hybrid, perform a transaxle fluid change every 35-50k miles depending if you drive softly.
You shouldn't need to mind the maintenance required light if you keep on top of the maintenance.
If you have hybrid its a good idea to replace the HV battery filter.
This is aside from brake pads and engine air filters. on hybrid, the brake pads will last a bit longer than on 350.
