Prep for wrapping roof

Prep for wrapping roof
Hello all!
been stalking for a little bit, and finally came up with something I could not find the answer too.
Got my 24 300h F Sport in May of this year.
love everything about the car, but I like my sport model to look a little.more sporty.
I like the look of having a gloss black roof, I think it will flow nicely with the already black accents on the silver car.
Getting some quotes of $500 and up....which i find a bit high. While I don't think the roof wrap is a 20 min job, it isn't above my technical level, and I can get all materials for around $100
My questions are
A) does the antenna cover pop off from the exterior ? I don't need to remove the whole thing as long as the silver painted cover part can just pop off
B) The "roof rails" or "drip rails" how are they removed? And can they be reinstalled once the have been removed.
Thanks in advance for any help. Pics for your enjoyment and to show my previous vinyl experience
Nevermore can't get more than 1 photo to upload

I will be watching this because I am thinking of doing the same thing, although I will be having a shop do it..
I saw a YouTube video recently and they showed getting inside and pulling the headliner down a little and removing one bolt to remove the antenna.
Also, I think I would like to cover the drip rails as well and planned to see if that is possible. It would line up better visually if they were covered IMHO.
I've been waiting been waiting to see if a black roof would be offered on the 2025 model (it seems everyone is offering it), but just today I saw the 2025 model brochure and it doesn't appear to be a choice, even on the Black Line model.
Good luck with your project.

Knowing the way this roof, the shark fin, the rails etc. this job done properly will be a PITA if you DIY. That shark fine too afaik is bolted in from the inside, so it takes special techniques to wrap it on the roof. this is an advanced wrap job.
just pay someone.

I purchased black vinyl brand called “vivid”
my wrap installer told me it’s the only other brand he’ll work with due to its forgiveness and longevity
my rails were removed and wrapped and he reinstalled without any new clips , as my car is fairy new.
the shark fin was wrapped with an advance wrap technique called back wrapping where the wrap the bottom edge first then wrap the wrest to prevent water from lifting the wrap . They also back wrapped all my edges on the roof and wrapped into the sunroof area for aesthetics.
they charged me $200 for the wrap job I tipped $50
$250 plus wrap material $110 shipped
total $360
these are the best photos I have at the moment .
i recommend ceramic coating the vinyl wrap after or waxing , helps with the staining from auto touchless car washes , or you have to get up there and clean the vinyl and risk scratching it everytime .

Mind you my wrap job is about 2 years old and my vehicle is not kept in a garage , so it sees UV all day , there is some shrinkage as of now but It was still a great job I have decided I might get it redone before the 5th year to help ease removal and reinstallation
they did not remove my shark fin they just wrapped it in 3 sections . The back sliver the bottom sliver and then the main body

Only thing I did before sending it in was clay bar the roof and buff it with a machine polish I didn’t want any defects to show. Sadly there are a few but I had to drive 35 minutes in rush hour to get there.
as for waxing the vinyl make sure you test some as I’ve heard horror stories about certain waxes on vinyl.
I like my chemical guys banana spray wax as well as meguirs black gold class quick wax , after every touchless wash . Most I go is about 2/3 washes between cleaning of the roof as it tends to hold grime and look like staining.
but invisiglass and spray wax is your friend
side note : vivid wrap tends to be one of the glossiest vinyls I could find , I wanted it to mimic paint . Which a paint job would probably be $1500-$1800 if you took it in for that
