INSTALLED 4" speakers in Dash
There are multiple threads on Audio lately, This one addresses installing Dash speakers only.
RECAP. I purchased 3 1/2 inch kicker speakers but looked too small and holes didn't align. I ordered 4" infinity speakers.
First mod, I had to remove 2 of the 4 mounting ears on the speakers. tin snips make it easy.
Second mod, you have to enlarge the mounting holes so the bolts will pass thru. I used a hole enlarging drill bit to do this. very easy
Third mod. I had to cut the mounting bracket for an AC duct that is just inside the speaker hole and push it back about 1/4 inch. I used a drywall saw because it's plastic. mount arm is metal. t The new speakers (either size) the maginate hits this bracket.
Forth mod, I had to trim the inside of the speaker grill and remove one of the locking tabs. easy to do with side cutters or a very sharp box cutter blade.
Conclusion: took more time than I expected because I have to figure things out what to mod. Time is shortened now that you know. I LOVE the sound quality improvement.
Stay tuned for more speaker replacement details.

i did this in 2021 and documented already. many in the rav4 community and camry community did the same. same speaker, same location, same process, same tabs, same screws & wire etc. but yeah cool. post pics

**updated: I was asked in a different thread to post my results, so I did.
Also, I did a search and didn't find the information you said you had done, so others might have the same problem.

I purchased Infinity 4" speakers from Amazon, they were a good price of $44.00, retail was $79.00 from other sellers on Amazon. Just scroll till you find this seller.
I also purchased a wiring harness adapter. it was $10.00 and well worth it. you don't have to try and guess if you have the right phase connection. (neg vs positive side) The harness has a quick disconnect on one end and two different size female connectors on the other end which match up to the sizes of male connectors on the speakers.
I would purchase these again for any other speaker replacements.
