Default 2019 ES 300H flat tires worth getting?

Run Flat tires on a 2019 ES300H.....Since there is no spare.....is it a good idea to get Run Flat tires or is the noise etc not worth and maybe just get a spare and remove the black plastic from trunk. Thank you

The ES was not engineered for run flats, so I do not believe they would be as comfortable or quiet. My S550 was engineered for run flats and while I think they are fine, many on the Mercedes forums found non run flats to be more comfortable. I have staggered size 20" wheels and could not find an all season tire that fit the rears. Also, I have had two blowouts. The first I did not even notice for several days as no air was lost. The second I don't believe it would have gone the alleged 50 miles. I made it home, but had to put in more air to get it to the dealer about 5 miles away.

I would just use the stock tires.

Since you don't already have a spare tire of the space saver variety, I would go with a full sized spare tire and wheel. (There's been a few posters on this forum who have done that and confirmed the space saver spare tire trunk stowing area is large enough to store a full sized spare tire and wheel.)

With a full sized spare available, no matter how bad a single tire problem you encounter you have a replacement available so you continue on your merry way without having to deal with the operating constraints of a space saver spare or damage tire run flat.

Have things changed? My ES300h has a spare tire.

This is what I would do if I didn't have the temp spare that came with my ES in 2019. I must say that I had no idea that Lexus isn't providing a temp spare in the hybrid. As far as run flats, I had them on my Corvette and they leave a lot to be desired regarding ride quality. I got rid of them and put sport tires on and never looked back. Add to the fact that RF tires are about twice the price of regular tires and there you have it.

padelos is posting from France. The equipment Lexus includes for dealing with a tire issue varies by country/region. For some areas (e.g., UK and presumably France) ESs come equipped with tire puncture repair kits with no space saver spare tire and other areas (e.g., US) ESs come equipped with a space saver spare tire.

Run flat tires are almost never comfortable for the ride, even if the car is designed for them.

I think the current generation LS was/ coming with them as optional (and are sometimes that way at the dealer), and on the owner’s forum drivers were reporting they changed over to regular tires because of the harsh ride, even on a car that was configured for them.
