Default 2021 ES 300h spark plugs

I’ve never changed my own spark plugs before and was looking for information on how to find the correct spark plug torque specifications for my vehicle. I have a 2021 Lexus ES 300h.

thanks!

The lexusguide.net Lexus ES (XZ10) Service Manual's A25a-fxs (engine Control) - Ignition Coil And Spark Plug - Components illustration shows the torque values for the spark plug as well as the ignition coil securing bolt. The torque values are in the callout boxes on each part and have in order values of "N*m (kgf*cm, ft.*lbf)" unless specified otherwise.

Use 8mm socket to remove 4 coil screw then remove the spark plug, when install just use the regular ratchet and tight it enough, not too tight or too lose and u be fine. U might as well clean your throttle plate too. 10mm socket loosen it and use throttle spray bottle on a rag to clean the carbon buildup inside. These will help no shaking engine while its idling

They are very easy to replace and you don’t really need to torque them.
But, is it too early to even think about it?

Tighten just past where the washer crushes. Little elbow torque as my dad would say.

You have 100k miles on it? i thought it takes a while for needing replacements?

You’re correct, it does take a while before needing replacements.

I think it’s bad advice to steer a first timer away from properly torquing spark plugs. “Not too loose and not too tight” is very vague and subjective.

Hmmm... The 2021 LEXUS ES 300H WARRANTY AND SERVICES GUIDE has:
144 Months or 120,000 Miles
...
Replace spark plugs2
...
2 Required under the terms of the Emission Control Warranty
120000 miles seems like a lot of miles but a 2021 ES 300h could be approaching 4 years on the road and with a 120 mile daily round trip commute, 5 days a week you could easily be approaching that number of miles on the odometer.
