Because the 5LS uses a front mid-engine layout with more of the bulky engine positioned behind the front axle to maximize dynamics - albeit at the expense of cabin length.

Agreed. I think they killed it with the F-Sport. Even the non F-Sport looks great. Very impressive. Hope the FWD F-Sport can keep up with its looks.

I think in asking why the LS has less room, they didn't want an explanation as to how it has less room but rather the reasoning behind the decision to design it as such when viewing the Lexus sedan portfolio as a whole. Personally, I think this means they're going to shake things up a bit and we've got a bit more exciting offerings coming up as current model positions & missions in the lineup shift.

(Or maybe this is me hoping for a surprise 5GS Gran Coupe )

the F sport red/black seats look fantastic

I am very happy lexus has been offering red seats even in the LS last few years
