I actually prefer it this way. My Azera can be driven away WITHOUT the fob after a remote start.

That would be illegal on Hyundai's part. It sounds like the usual complaints you see on the internet after winter kicks in. People go out and start their cars the usual way, with the fob on them. They get out, obviously not being able to lock it, and go back in their house. Some "low life" walks by and sees an opportunity. The next thing you know, the owner blames the manufacturer for their own ignorance. Coming soon!

I get what you are saying - I am just pointing out why I dont mind Lexus shutting it down once you open the locked car while its remote start running. In the case of Hyundai, its running and locked but if you unlock it and forget, its there for the taking. Owner negligence? For sure.

I don't believe that you can just drive off with a Hyundai that was remote started with the factory Blue Link system. The vehicle will turn off if the brake pedal is pressed after remotely starting and no fob is present. It will also shut off on its own after 10 minutes. The only way the car will continue on is if someone started the vehicle manually and walked away.

My last post on this subject. If you're saying your Azera can be remote started and someone breaks in they can then drive off, you should have it fixed. Number one, you can't remote start it unless the doors are locked, so it would take a break-in for someone other than a person with a fob to enter it. Then, as soon as they pressed the brake pedal to put the car in gear, it would shut off. Again, if your Azera doesn't do this, it has a major defect.
Now, back to the Lexus. It is a pain that it shuts off as soon as you open the door after remote start. They could easily make it work like most other manufactures, say Hyundai and Honda. It's probably just a cost savings issue. My old Sonata had a key, so as long as you put it in the ignition and turned it to "Run" you could just drive off. If you hit the brake first, you had to restart. Sensing the fob is already something Lexus does, so it really makes no sense.

I don't mean to change the thread topic of discussion.... but it was recently mentioned that the HUD is a standalone option for $500.
In Canada the 2019 Lexus ES hybrid comes in 3 trims, and the birds eye parking view is only available on the highest trim which adds $14.5k CDN to the base model price.
From what I can see on Lexus Canada's ES pricing page for the hybrid, the Birds eye parking thing is not listed under add-on accessories.
Anyone know if one can buy this module as a part and just plug it in after buying the car (maybe need the cameras too). I tried out the feature on a BMW 7 series, nice to have but not needed, doesn't work well in the real world, but it's a fun thing to have on the car and makes resale easier because people think it will enhance their parking experience.
