Default Only CPO Gen 7 ES350 in US?

Hi - I posted the below note in the "sticky" intro thread on 11/2/18 (with three pics) but wanted to see if I'm correct that we may currently have the only CPO 2019 ES350 in the country? Thoughts? And as an update based on our week of ownership thus far, we LOVE this car! And that's after driving an LS for the past ten years. (Granted, an older LS, but still an LS.) The two things we miss from our LS are the folding mirrors and the rear side sunshades. But the tech, etc. of this model more than compensates.

Hi! Last night we picked up our CPO 2019 ES350 last night - Luxury model with HUD, rear sunshade, power trunk kick sensor and panoramic moon roof added. Exterior is Atomic Silver, interior is Chateau leather with Linear Espresso wood trim. We may have the only CPO 2019 ES in the country... Original buyer was a 2017 LS owner, bought the 2019 ES to get a smaller vehicle and after three weeks and less than 300 miles decided he wanted an LS back. So he bought a 2019 LS. Dealer couldn't sell our car as "new" so they certified it. Our gain! They took something off the MSRP plus we have a 5 year, 11 month bumper-to-bumper warranty (3 years 11 mos remaining new car warranty plus two year CPO warranty). And our first six service trips are included. We purchased a bunch of extras (chip guard film, paint and upholstery protection and tire protection plans) PLUS a five year extended warranty. So we have a warranty for one month shy of ELEVEN years!!! And our first 10 services are included. Since we traded in a 2005 LS430 which we purchased CPO in 2008, we've upgraded 14 years in vehicle age and light years in technology. We will miss the LS - by far the most luxurious car we have ever or will ever own. But so far we're very happy with the ES. Thanks for all the threads so far; I've been reading up on the ES since we first saw the car last Saturday and despite the minor (to us) issues identified by owners thus far we think we've made the right choice. I've added three pics from our delivery room visit.

So, you are saying you have 6 years plus 5 years of warranty coverage - I didn't know it worked that way.

Yes, I bet you do have the only CPO 2019 ES. And a great color combination.

Yes! I know, it's unbelievable... Nice not to worry about major repairs for over a decade...

I'm not really understanding your warranty claim. The first part makes sense if you drive less than 13k miles/yr, since the CPO warranty begins after the remaining factory warranty expires. If you drive 20k/yr, that get's you 2 1/2 years on the factory warranty. That is then the time when the 2 year CPO warranty kicks in. So, what I don't understand is how you could buy a 5 year warranty that doesn't begin until after the CPO expires. I've never heard of a Lexus warranty that works that way. The only way I could see you covered for up to 10 years is if you purchased the Lexus 10 year extended warranty, which kicks in after your factory warranty expires. This would make your CPO certification a waste, unless you put a ton of miles on the car during the CPO period. This, in turn would make your 10 year extended warranty useless. Can you please explain this in more detail? Thanks and congrats on the ES!

With or without the warranty, you'd pretty much never need to worry about repairs. But it is a good feeling I'm sure =) Congrats. Post some pics!

Hi Mike - From the 2018 CPO brochure: As with other CPO plans, the Lexus warranty begins from the date the car entered service. The plan covers the car for two additional years past its original 4-year warranty with no deductible for repairs that fall within the warranty’s coverage. However, unlike most other plans, Lexus’ CPO offers unlimited mileage during that 6-year time frame, a definite bonus for those who pile on the miles.

So due to the unlimited mileage for the first six years (5 years 11 months in our case) our 5 year extended warranty starts six years from the original service date, which was 10/1/2018 and takes us through 10/1/2029. Dave

Ok, you got me thinking some more about this and I see your point. It's only 11 years if we drive less than 12,500 miles/year for the first four years. If we did 50,000 miles in three years then it turns into a ten year warranty - three from the original new car warranty (4 years OR 50,000 miles), two from the CPO warranty (unlimited miles) and five from the extended warranty (also unlimited miles). Or nine years if we hit 50,000 after two years, etc... For us, we drive about 10,000/year so the new car warranty will last us the full four years. But regardless, we're covered for a long time.

The negative to the Lexus CPO warranty is that it's not transferrable, but we kept our 2005 LS for 10 years and plan to keep this one at least that long.
