I know in my last ES300h (2014) i could disable the rear console (radio/climate controls etc) from the front.. I cant seem to do it on the new 2019 gen7 model? and i cant even find a reference to it in the manuals..has anyone managed to do this?

There are none in the rear to disable.

He's not in the US, so he would probably have them. Plus power folding mirrors.

Good point. Their cars are vastly different as far as features go. I saw a gen 6 over there and it had a load of neat accessories that we don't get. Then again, their cars are very expensive compared to ours, currency differential notwithstanding...

In the trunk under the mat , to the right of the spare tire compartment is the jack, to the left is just empty - is something supposed to be there or is that just storage ?

But still we don’t get Apple Carplay nor adaptive headlights.

My 2007 GS 350 had the adaptive headlights, a sunglasses holder, folding storage been in doors, and memory seating for the passenger seats. I miss all of these in my previous 2015 and current 2020 GS 350's.

I too miss that from my 2007 GS 350 in my 2015, not to mention other things including the touchscreen--smaller but much quicker and easier to use...

OP question, when you press the center console Menu button and select Climate on screen.
our US market cars that have rear controls (LS, GS) have a rear control lock out.

Attached is a page from the Owner's Manual for the 2019 GS 350 (USA) that has
rear HVAC with controls in the back. Opening the Climate screen up front has both
controls for Front and Rear and an unlabeled button that disables the rear controls.
Perhaps this is also how the OP's ES works. BTW the USA Toyota Avalon Limited
has nice controllable rear AC with proper B-pillar vents and temp and fan controls.
I could not find any driver override method for that vehicle however.
