I drive only 6K miles per year so I change my oil every year, since you’re not supposed to keep it in your engine longer than that.

My exact situation and my practice as well. 5 to 6 thousand miles every 12 months. Never had any engine problems. I bought a Miata, brand new in 1995 and still have it. Less than 2 thousand miles/year. Change oil every April when I it out of storage. Car’s engine runs perfect. 46.000 miles over 28 years and no problems with once a year change—-most years non-synthetic oil, I might add.

Driven only in summer—-nice days only. Never a daily driver—-just a toy.. Beautiful car still looks like new. May become a sort of a family heirloom someday—-or, more likely, wind up on the auction block at Mecum’s!

As we know, the 2019 Lexus ES calls for oil changes every 10,000 miles, inclusive of the first oil change. I spoke with the service tech at the local Lexus dealer, and he said he wouldn't feel doing an earlier oil change (at, say, 5,000 miles) would provide any additional benefit. The light weight of the oil and the full synthetic blend being the reasons the oil can/should last much longer.
How do you all feel about waiting 10,000 miles for your car's first oil change? And then every 10k after that?

Well, I changed out the factory oil & filter at 1,000 miles on my 2023 ES300h Ultra Luxury and did it again at 6,000 miles. Next oil & filter change will be by the Lexus dealer at that ridiculous approx. 10,000 mile service interval. I religiously have the the oil & filter changed at 5,000 miles or six-month, whichever occurs first with Liqui Moly Special Tec AA 0W16 and an OEM Toyota oil filter.

I have a new '23 RX. Over the past 25 years, I've gone back and forth second guessing the maintenance requirements of other Lexus cars I have. Bottom line for me is I've stopped worrying about it, and I follow the schedule as it is written in the manual. In the unlikely event anything ever happened, you'd be covered under warranty because you followed the recommended service intervals.

For someone to assert that 10k OCI’s are fine because it will cover you for warranty purposes, I’m saying that’s a logical argument as long as you’re only keeping your car that long.

Well, that's a Hyundai GDI crappy engine. Any direct injection engine without port injection is subject to oil dilution and sludge. JMHO from what I have read and scene on YouTube from Scotty Kilmer and The Car Care Nut.

Port injectin will help to clean the intake valves. Nothing else.

87,800 miles

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesnt the written date on these stickers supposed to state the mileage/date for the next recommend oil change and not the mileage/date when it was performed?
The current mileage on the car is 97,800 miles as of around 1/6/24 which means the last oil change was done 20K miles ago(@77,800 mileage) and almost four years ago! (recommended date on the sticker minus one year). So yeah that explains why it sludged up like that.
