So just to verify, hitting the Auto button turns on both the HVAC, which can also be the A/C?

What happens if I turn on the HVAC, and put the temperature to max?

Right now, I turn on the air, but leave the A/C off, and set the temperature to max. I don't use the Auto button since it seems like it turns on the A/C.

I suspect the only time the AC is off is if you manually turn it off through the screen controls. It is on by default otherwise auto or not.

Is this even true? If so can you post a link where you find this info?

I personally like turning my A/C on/off(as A/C always uses more gas) and Lexus's not including a simple physical A/C button is lame(its not a cost saving reason as all Toyotas have them).

The person who posted that info has a ES hybrid. I assume hybrids will tell you exactly how much watts is used at all times so one can compare with AC on/off.

I have the hybrid and I dont recall seeing a screening telling me how many watts are currently bring used. Real time MPG yes. But not watts.

You need to use an OBD Bluetooth dongle and an Android app like Torque. There are special Prius PIDs which also work on ES hybrids. Great for monitoring battery condition, motor output or just geeking out over a mountain of data.

Default AC consistently works after turning off S-Flow

Thanks for all the AC and S-Flow details. I experienced the AC not working, hot air and it worked again after stopping for awhile. With S-Flow off, no temp or fan speed issues.

I notice in the original post that you also have the recirculated air setting on auto. When this function is set to automatic
mode, the air conditioning system operates automatically.

The only cool thing about S-Flow is that it also controls the auto heated/cooled seats. You can leave the passenger seat on auto and if no one is sitting there, it turns itself off. As soon as someone gets in and sits down, it turns itself back on.

Otherwise, I don't see the point in directing air only to the driver. Another member said it well:

I really don't see the purpose of cutting the air flow to part of the car.
