Auto Folding Side View Mirrors

Well, here's a lesson in misunderstanding. I saw a Lexus produced video on Twitter on the new ES350/300h.
In the video it shows the side view mirrors electrically folding inward (assumes the driver has left the car). Well I replied to the video that I wanted to know why the ones I was considering did not have that feature and that the sales said it didn't exist either. I got a reply that said it was on ALL ES models. Then, I responded asking for further explanation given my seeing the car without it and sales indicating that it didn't exist. It was only after I replied that second time, that I realized the video was coming from a UK dealer site (produced by Lexus).
So, now I have a NEW question, why don't the cars being sold in the US have this feature????
Any thoughts???

Here’s a thought, I wonder if the wiring is already in place because of the controls for the view angle on the mirrors. If so, then it might be possible to obtain the Lexus replacement part for the folding mirrors.

No folding mirrors on U.S. spec Lexus ES cars. One of the top complaints to Toyota Corp. That and remote start...

It's standard equipment on a lot of non-US cars. My 2014 ES300h has a button to fold the mirrors. No auto folding mirrors that activate when the car is locked like on the NX or RX though.

I had a 2016 GS F Sport for six months and it had auto folding side mirrors. You could activate or deactivate manually. Nice feature but I wouldn’t want to pay a lot extra for it.
Why did I have the GS for only six months? Story for another day.

On behalf of us Brits, I apologise (UK spelling) that our '19 ES has power folding mirrors and the US version does not.
I can hardly believe this. The US version has a panoramic roof option, Apple Carplay and probably a whole lot more that we do not besides. Our only power unit is the 4-cylinder hybrid.
As I've stated on another thread, our ES is built in Japan (not Kentucky) with just 700 available this year from July, and the car journalists have been luke warm in their coverage.

There was actually nothing wrong with the GS. I just should have done my homework better. It was a lot of fun to drive.
My wife hated it. Didn’t like the seats, too noisy on hard acceleration, spartan interior. Biggest problem was lack of rear seat legroom for passengers. Also, being AWD, poor fuel economy.
In the transition to an ES, took about a $10,000 loss. Oh, the other thing I did not like was that being black, it was very hard to keep clean and always looked like it was dirty.

bc6152 - It's a deal. The only thing is my new ES doesn't arrive until July but first thing I'll do is saw the mirrors off.
Your post is interesting but the one thing that is most interesting is your ownership history. You have gone from an earlier ES to a brand new model. Now that does speak volumes.
