Like everyone else here, I have no idea whether there will be a GS in the future, but, considering that sedan sales, in general, have dramatically dropped in recent years, Lexus has to be considering whether it makes sense to continue to offer 4 different sedans. And, with the GS selling only about 6500 units per year and with less than 1/3 as many GSs being sold as were being sold just 4 or 5 years earlier, the GS would seem to be a candidate for being discontinued.
With the 4th Generation GS now in its 7th year of production, we will probably get a much better view of the future (or lack thereof) of the GS when we see whether, for the 2020 model year, there is a 5th Generation GS or any GS at all.

I was told (by my salesman) without hesitation that the GS will be discontinued, and will be replaced by an AWD ES. Of course I was also told several years ago that the GX was also being discontinued, but that was on this forum. Mid sized sedans seem to struggle. The E Class Mercedes, 5 series BMW, the 6 series Audi all seem a little on the rare side. All are placed between "sportier smaller cars, and full size luxury models, and seem to have fewer qualities of either
I'm actually a little disappointed, but understand. In this neck of the woods, it's not common to see a GS.

In my non-urban area, I would guess that 90% or more of the Lexus vehicles that I see on the road are RXs. Of the rest, the majority are ESs, I will only occasionally see an NX or a GX, Very, very rarely, I'll see an IS or a GS, and I might see 1 or 2 LS or LX in an entire year.
Even with low sales numbers, Lexus is not likely to discontinue any of its flagship vehicles (LS, LX, and LC). But, with low sales, I'm confidently that Lexus frequently re-evaluates whether it makes economic sense to continue to build its other low selling models.

While this part is encouraging...
"On GS, although it is a little older, it achieved our plan for the year and it seems to be holding up well considering its age,” Christ said. "It fits really well with our lineup and we continue to invest in it and keep it. We feel it’s an important part of our lineup and it continues to meet our expectations.”
When pressed further regarding a GS successor, Christ made it pretty clear he wasn’t ready to talk about that: "We’ll be making the appropriate announcements at later and undecided date.”
Unfortunately, I don't see that as confirmation at all, but I suspect we'll know within the next year.

I assume you're referring to this, which was discussed in a couple of the GS threads:

In the fall of 2016, I had a conversation with the general manager at a Lexus dealer. He said that, just the day before, he had been at a training session for general managers at Lexus dealers and that, at the training session, he was told by the people from Lexus corporate who were conducting that seminar that the decision had been made to discontinue both the GS and the GX after the 2017 model year. Here we are now in the 2019 model year, and both of those vehicles are still in the Lexus lineup.
I won't be surprised if the GS is either continued or discontinued, but I won't believe with any degree of certainty that either is the case until it actually happens.
