Default Album art only displays in park?

Anyone know why the album art only displays in park? Thanks!

Safety. To reduce distracted driving, other than the map, video shows only when in Park.

No I am not talking about “video”. I am referring to the artist “art” display of the song. The album title, etc.

Pretty sure Anthony's reply is correct. It seems stupid, but that appears to be the path they are now taking.

I know. All images are blocked when driving. The cover art is technically a still video image. The title and artist should still show.

Yes, that is annoying to have the album art blocked when driving - particularly on my streaming apps and even on my USB-based music. I've found that photos for my phone contacts only display when the vehicle is at full stop. I'm not sure who thought that displaying a name which must be read while the car is in motion vs. a photo image that is more easily recognized was more safe... All adjustments that I'll have to get used to.

Many annoyances related to safety I guess. Try searching your USB while driving. It ain't gonna work. I noticed the Gracenote images disappear at times but didn't realize it was by design.

I just dropped my car off to have protective film installed and my service advisor recommended that if enough feedback comes in from customers regarding things like those contained within this thread - Lexus could consider making a change for the sake of 'customer convenience'. I lobbied my feedback at both the service advisor and the in-house tech specialist - both who said they understood. Let's see if it turns into anything. I will be inquiring on every visit until something changes.

Someone determined it was a safety issue. I don't understand why, but it is what it is. Your "tech advisor" has already forgotten the issue. Even if he hasn't, nothing will come of it.

Let's face it - what is the big deal that the artwork isn't displayed while driving. There are bigger fish to fry.

Members of this forum have been complaining about various issues since the beginning of generation 6 and few, if any, have changed into generation 7... Some have been taken away...
If added as a safety feature it will most likely remain.

ok I understand your point. And yes artist and song display, just under the stupid usb symbol where the art should be. With all distractions in a car this is way down the list of “safety” concerns. IMO

All the more reason a meaningless distraction should be left there. Just saying.

Blame the government nannies. It was a "recommendation" by the NHTSA I believe.

I don't know of any other manufactures that block album cover art, do you?
