Default What are your thoughts on the clear front UV windshield film?

I'm thinking about having it done... There are supposedly new products that are 100% clear that supposedly repel 43% of the sun's heat and 99.9% of the UV. This video is from Hawaii, but it is legal in Florida too.

Check your local laws but doing a light tint is barely noticeable but will cut the UV and heat quite well. Mostly it depends on how hard up the cops are for enforcing tint laws as here in Colorado it's near the bottom of the list for the CHP to enforce.
My tint is darker than what is allowed but if you ever get pulled over roll down the side windows on the side the officer is approaching and have all you credentials in hand and it's unlikely your tint would ever be mentioned unless the local cops are traffic *****.

Wow, this exposure to UVA radiation from car side windows is no joke. Check out:
https://www.skincancer.org/preventio...ds-in-your-car

Im definitely now thinking about side window tint, pano roof tint, and maybe even the front. Less UVA comes thru the front, but other articles say untinted front windshields block only half the UVA. Seems I have more research to do...

Talking Great Idea if you don't mind breaking the law.

I am unlike most people, but i think it is a decent idea. I have it on my vehicle. My tint set up is 20% all around and 50% on the front. I think it looks amazing. It is illegal but i believe its worth paying a ticket to have my car looking how I want. In the 6 years that I have had my windshields tinted I have only had 1 window tint ticket and it was only for the sides.

3m crystalline 70 is a great idea as well as the air 80
the air 80 has a hue to it so make sure you want the blue-ish hue

i have crystalline 90 on my car and it has made a good difference i probably would have done 70 crystalline if done again

if your in a non warm client and don't have skin issues i think its ridiculous to get it,

but in cali, texas and florida its important

or .... anywhere else in the southern states. Arizona?

Blocking UV can be very important, even in "non warm" climates! It can get pretty warm in the summer, even if you live where it's cold in the winter! Ask anyone that lives in Wisconsin or North Dakota.

Especially at higher elevations (I'm in Colorado), the sun gets incredibly intense. After living in San Diego for more than 40 years, I'm amazed at the damage UV can do to cars that I never saw (or noticed) in "Cali". Especially the interior!

South florida here have the crystaline all the way around , i think the 90 in front you cant really see it but is seems to make it a tade more reflective from outside i would say . big diff in amount of heat transmitted thru. Even though we havent hit our peak sun and heat months i can tell it helps a lot . (esp w black on black car). and less a/c load while driving . One thing i noticed is with the darker sides when sun is at an angle the crystaline appears a bit hazy( brownish) but only on oblique angles ...
When parked, like at work I use the Pop top. interior is about 80 degrees even after sitting in sun all day. swear by it.

ES63, Love the pop top concept. I bought the wearthetech custom fitted sunshade set and to tell you the truth it is awkward to unroll and fit against the windshield. Inserting the window shades is just too much for daily setup and removal. The pop top looks easy to setup, and provides complete coverage for $80. I’m going to give it a try. The website recommends the L size, but I wonder if they have taken into account the slightly wider body and much wider mirror measurement with the 2019 redesign. Should I be concerned about the sizing or is the fit loose enough that I should be OK?

The L fits just fine on the new body style, and with the Fsport spoiler holds the back out nice around the sides and i adjusted the lines to just hook under my lisc plate. i have since trimed most extra line off . and in video i didnt roll it , like i normaly do and tuck into built in pocket.
on avg it takes me 30 sec to put on , even quicker to remove and roll up toss in trunk. i also usually crack the widows about a 1/4 inch.
( quick press of auto roll down on remote) but isnt nesc. you will be amazed how cool the car is with it on on a blazing hot day!

Bit the bullet and had it done. I'm sure it is cooler in the car and the UV is less, but the dash still gets hot AF with temps only in the high 70's. All-in-all, I'm pleased. But, protecting the dash was one of my key reasons for having it done. I think I will still get a sunshade.
