The first ES350 I looked at on the showroom floor was made in Japan. It was a Luxury not an Ultra. A very pretty care in Lunar Grey with Flaxen. It was at McDerrmitt in Ct.
I saw a few Japan-built ES's on the floor early in the model year but haven't seen any lately - and probably won't. Having had both I would still prefer the Japanese built ES if I had a choice. Just this morning, as I dusted off my ES, I noticed a couple of little flaws that I see every time to remind me of this fact.

Which were what? Not being snide, really would like to know.
Our 2019 ES300h (Japan) had a very slight mismatch between the right fender and bumper assembly. On a "lesser" car I wouldn't have noticed... 2019 ES300h (Japan) front right bumper.

While most ES350 sold in the US are built in the Kentucky plant, at various times during the model year when the Kentucky plant is not set up to build certain configurations, dealers will fill their anticipated needs for those configurations with cars from Japan. For example, most of the 2016-2018 ES350 were built in the US, but there were only a few times during each year when the US plant was set up to build UL ES350s. During those periods, UL ES were imported from Japan.

The bumpers attach to the car with clips on the bumpers that attach to bumper brackets on the fenders (front) or quarter panels (rear), and there are actually some minor adjustments that can be made to the bumper brackets and bumper clips that can affect the fit between the front bumper and the front fenders or the fit between the rear bumper and the rear quarter panels. For the rear bumper, I know that one of the adjustments can be made with a screw in the wheel well, and it doesn't even require uninstalling the bumper. I'm not sure if there is a similar adjustment point for the front bumper. In any case, you might want to check with the dealer to see what can be done.
