There are some domestic issues as well - BP’s refinery in Indiana, the biggest refinery in the US is down due to power issues and they’re apparently having delays getting it all restarted. Additionally this is the time of year when refineries start making adjustments for moving from winter to summer blend gasoline which is a slow process and is delaying domestic production. These are both temporary but are having an affect.

I'll save the .60 - .90 per gallon with our V6 that has no thirst for premium.

I get that. Premium burns cleaner than regular. I also only use Top Tier gas stations.

My ES 350 non-hybrid runs way smoother and hesitation free on premium. Top tier Premium fuel only for me.

Mine runs exactly the same whether it's Exxon/Mobil or Joe's Horsep_ss.

Joe's really does have some good deals, if you time it right.

I know that it's well documented that premium vs regular has virtually no benefits in this car. In my experience using it I have never had any engine performance issues with my cars.

I use regular, always have. I was referring to your comment that premium burns "cleaner" than regular. I have never heard that.

I've been driving higher end vehicles since I left the Nissan brand with high performance engines. The article that you posted shows the benefits of premium over regular in those type of cars. It's an old habit that started in my teens when we would drive our muscle cars to the drag strip and stop at the one gas station in town that had racing gas with 110 octane.

Those were the days we used the timing light to manually adjust timing for the type fuel we used. The HP cars did not run well retarding timing so hi test was a must. I ran premium in my LS430 for several years and when gas prices got high I tried regular and have not switched back after 15 years. I can tell a little difference in power but not missed and my highway gas mileage is around 25 whereas it was 26 with premium. Computer does a great job with the timing so no knocking or pinging.
