Yes, from a stop on hard acceleration the transmission shifts in a weird and not smooth way. Drove several including F Sports and they all did it. Solution is to but it in S mode 1 or first gear if you know you are going to launch full throttle. Then it shifts smoother into 2nd.

I’m still in the break in stage so I haven’t punched it from a dead stop yet. I have noticed it’s a little sluggish from first to second in Eco but not harsh...smoother in Sport S and +.

Is the engine break-in recommended by Lexus? I thought that only applied to high-performance engines.

Well it may not be the engine in an LC500 but it ain’t chopped liver either lol?

Page 129 in the owners manual...yes I get they’re just recommendations but better safe than sorry.

My FSport shifts are silky smooth other than an occasional stutter on downshift.

I am assuming "extremely high speeds" are speeds above 120 mph.

It has a solid feel, but doesn't require much effort to drive. It handles extremely well with grace and poise. And it's quiet and serene, which sets the stage nicely to enjoy the awesome ML audio system. Who could ask for more?

The hardest part is curbing my enthusiasm.
Well.... I got a good one for you. In 2016 I bought a C7 Corvette (cash) and it sat in the garage for most of the time, less than 20,000 miles in almost 4 years, and happily traded it in for a 2019 300h Ultra Luxury. Not regrets at all.

Great story! Here's my take. You bought the Corvette because you THOUGHT you'd enjoy driving it, but you ACTUALLY enjoy driving your ES.

This reminds me of a story. "Back in the day," I use to love Car and Driver magazine. In the late 1980s, I would look forward to getting each monthly issue and read it practically cover to cover. Halfway through their review of the 1987 Acura Legend Coupe, I decided I want that car. The car just came out and it was Motor Trend Car of the Year. The review praised the car up and down. Today, Car and Driver would probably say it was "Ho Hum" and drool all over the BMWs.

I liked Car and Driver back then because the had their values straight. Also, I enjoyed their irreverent humor. Unlike the other car magazines that catered to teenage muscle cars fantasies, they focused on real people and their driving experience. But a few years later, the editor retired and the muscle car folks took over. Now you can't tell the difference between Car and Driver magazine and Road and Track, etc. They all drool over hyper performance cars and downplay comfort, luxury, serenity, etc.

This car is STILL way to much fun to drive!! DAMN!!

At first, I thought of the car as an awesome set of wheels with an amazing audio system.

Now I see it more as the ultimate, mobile high-end listening room.
