Test drove a Ultra Luxury package this last weekend and was so shocked to see how smooth, how quiet, and how comfortable the ride was in the car. I want one now. I was told it was like a dressed up Camry or Avalon by someone...now that I drove one, it was superior to all of that and I think it is the next car I want to get.

This makes a lot of sense to me.

My 2004 ES 330 had a severe hesitation and jerking problem. This problem was well-known and resulted in a class action suit and settlement. See this article.

I lived with this problem for a couple of years until I read on a Lexus Usenet group that using premium gas might help. I tried premium gas and the problem almost completely went away.

For the 2004 ES 330, Lexus said using regular gas was OK, but recommended using 91 octane. I hadn't thought that the gas would make any difference with the hesitation/jerking issue since I was assuming it was a transmission problem.

87 octane recommended in the manual. I tried premium for two fills in our RX merely out of curiosity -same engine as ES. Zero change so why waste money unless you can actually appreciate a performance increase.

I agree.

I use regular (87 octane) gas in my new 2019 ES and have no hesitation issues. I was just relating my story about my 2004 ES 330 and saying that if you have experienced a hesitation issue with your 2019 ES 350 (which I have not!), then a few tanks of premium is certainly worth a try.

My 2019 ES 350 seems to run very well on 87 octane. I've not felt the need to try premium gas.
