Exclamation Beatsonic Android Auto Not Available for 2019 ES 350

Just in case owners of 2019 ES 350 cars are thinking about the Beatsonic solution to get Android Auto, note the information Beatsonic sent me in response to my inquiry:

Unfortunately we do not have Android Auto for your 2019 ES. Ours is only compatible up to 2018.

The Beatsonic website says this about compatibility: 2013-2018 Lexus ES 350 / 300h with Factory Navigation

And here's what Lexus headquarters wrote me when I inquired about the possibility of getting Android Auto on a 2019 ES 350 now or later:

Thank you for contacting Lexus about the possibility of having Android Auto.

We can certainly understand wanting Android Auto in your a newly purchased vehicle, and appreciate the opportunity to provide an answer to your inquiry.

At this time, the following 2020 models will be equipped with Android Auto capabilities:

• 2020 RX
• 2020 RC
• 2020 UX
• Select 2020 ES and NX (Available on select vehicles from October 2019 production)

Although we cannot promise that a retro-active update will become available for your model, please know Lexus strives to offer products and services that match our customers' diverse driving needs, as we continuously evaluate emerging technologies for use in our vehicles. I'm beating myself over the head for getting the ES300h now instead of waiting for the 2020 model that has the AA. In Canada, they're not even offering a Manufacturer rebate for the clearout model... If they dont offer a retrofit, i'll be sad

Lexus Spain website indicates that AA will be available for 2019 models in April 2020. The call 2019 ES models as 'compatible' vs 2020 models as 'available'. I am hoping the US follows the same path, just that the US has not announced it. We will see.

After reading the bulletin issued by Lexus in Spain, it seems certain that those owners with 2019 ES cars built after October 2018, with factory navigation, will be getting Android Auto installed free of charge in April of 2020 by your Lexus dealer. However this is in Spain and I'm suspicious as to why there has been no U.S.A. announcement regarding this issue. May be because America has a whole lot more Lexus ES 300h/350's than Spain... Not optimistic...

Why not optimistic? It means that the 2019 ES is hardware equipped with the ability to handle AA, just needs a software update. Software update usually has to do with geographic usage rights - and if enough of us start bugging lexus about this, they will either offer it for free or for a fee.

Hopefully we can just get a software update Without any extra hardware finger cross. I took look for the 2020 Owner's Manual and found they changed the wireless charger as you see on the pic below. Also, this the Navigation and Multimedia system Manual

I believe is was late April or early May this year (2019) that Lexus announced Apple CarPlay would be available in select 2018 vehicles. Who knows if the timing was purely technical or if there were other business/marketing considerations. I would suggest that backwards compatibility can't be ruled out for another year or so.

That would actually make the 2020 Qi Charging pad useful to anyone with a larger phone than a smaller iPhone 8/X/XS/11. My Note 10+ will not fit at all with or without a case, and my S10+ only fit with no case on.

It's the worst/slowest Qi pad I think I've ever used since the old Nokia ones from the early 2010's. Most useless feature in my 2019 ESh.

I'm really crossing my fingers for an Android Auto update. Lexus Nav is so underwhelming. I've actually been using an extra iPhone SE with no sim, paired to my Note 10+ WiFi to get Carplay on the screen to use Waze.

The lack of touchscreen is still terrible. I dread doing anything with the touchpad. If I'm driving, I extra dread it. Makes me miss my 2016 Genesis' interface.

Unfortunately an ES350 is going to be out of my reach this time around for a new lease car so I'm getting a 2020 NX300. It was built last week and should arrive late November and I've seen it's build sheet and Android Auto is listed so I'm going to be very interested to compare it against the factory nav.

I will continue to give Lexus bad ratings until my 2019 Lexus ES 300h can be updated with Android Auto. Doesn't make sense, same generation and hardware as the 2020. Just a software update. Mazda retro update their cars back to 2014!

You bought the car knowing it wasn't equipped with AA so why complain about it now??

You have a choice. You can continue to grouse and be grumpy re: Lexus and AA or you can take your destiny, and your enjoyment of your new car, into your own hands like I did. I bought a refurbished iPhone 6s 64 GB on Amazon for $180. Now I'm having a blast with my new toy and couldn't be happier about it.

The choice is yours...

We picked up a '19 ES350 F-Sport last week 10/19, and I called Lexus Customer Satisfaction a day or 2 after, according to them there will be an upgrade for A droid Auto for the '19 ES350. It will depend on the radio option in the car. Our F-Sport and '20 RC-F both will be upgradeable.
