Did Lexus really call the system mark Levinson just for 2 door tweeters and a ML amp? It looks that way. Pretty sad.
Hifiman,

I assume you own a 2019 Lexus ES with the Mark Levinson system?

Hi Barry, I don't as of yet, but will be purchasing an ES closer to Christmas.

I have rented an ES 300H luxury non ML on Turo to see how I like the car. I have also test driven both the ultra luxury and luxury package es 350's. I have not compared the two audio systems side by side or Sonically measured them.

This poster has been claiming he/she's going to purchase a 5th, 6th and 7th gen ES, as well as a 4th gen GS, for over a year now. I could go into all the crazy details, but most of you know how to search a member's prior posts. Basically, don't take anything this poster says as fact.

Thanks for this background info. I was struggling to figure out what bizarre ax this poster was grinding. It's still a mystery, but you've at least given me some sense of what he's about.

I appreciate my assistant and biggest fan! mike728

He follows me on all the Lexus threads informing people of my opinions and previous postings.

I'd like to commemorate this award to all my fans! Don't give up on your dreams and what you believe in.

The only axe to grind will be for Halloween

Thanks again

Are you aware that there are sound settings for CarPlay? I wasn't or hadn't thought to change/set them up. In fact, I had been listening to CarPlay in Surround until I realized it yesterday. I suspect that many you have been doing the same. Here's how to change it.

While in CarPlay, hit the Media button on the dash. This will go into your iPhone where you can change the sound settings including turning off Surround, if you want.

The freakin thing sounds even better now!!!! Amazing!!!

Thanks for the tip, David. Another way to do the same thing is to select "Audio" from the main menu, then select "Source", then select your iPhone and then select "Sound".

You're welcome, Barryabko.

I just thought I'd give the quickest/simplest way to get to the setting.

From the Edmunds 2020 ES 350 review:

"Audiophiles should consider the Navigation/Mark Levinson Audio package not only for its integrated nav system but also for its large 12.3-inch display and one of the best sound systems available in any car."

Fortunately, you can purchase an ES without navigation and the ML sound system.

The look of the smaller screen just doesn't cut it.

Definitely not worth an extra $2k for an additional 4".

Bringing this one back up. I pick up my 2020 ES tonight with ML.

Will definitively play with some of the suggested tuning setups. When I test drove they had some really whacky tuning with treble turned UP a wild amount and it was not pleasant.

On streaming, I noticed my Spotify app I noticed there is a Music Quality section and forcing it to “Very High” says it’s equivalent to 320kbit/s. Assuming it’s not that simple and there is still quality loss over other media types. Is Tidal a higher quality than that still?

Although there’s a fair amount of volume in the rear of our 2019 300h (by bringing the fader 2/3 the way to the rear), the sound is very thin relative to the sound in the front.

I would recommend using Tidal HiFi or Amazon Music HD. Both stream HiFi quality content but I believe Tidal is capped at 16/44.1 kHz at least that's the highest quality I get on my home theater system. While I have seen some albums hit 24/96 on Amazon Music HD.
