Lexus Test Driver
that's me you should be contacting. i am the one and the only one here and the first who removed the console and relocated the wires when everyone else was buying those alibaba right angle plugs or taking wire cutters to the port cover. LOL

An alternative solution I found: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002200397859.html
Multiple lengths and orientations available, but it looks quite fragile. I'll update when it gets here, will see if it works for Carplay/Android Auto
Even something like this to keep everything under the cover: https://www.ebay.com/itm/17473149684...evt=1&mkcid=28

That isn't correct. A quality, data transfer qualified Lightning to USB 2.0 cable is all that is required. If you look up the iPhone Lightning port specs you'll find the maximum data transfer rate is the same as USB 2.0; 480 mbps. [If you look up in the Navigation and Multimedia System Owner's Manual you'll find the Lexus's two USB data ports are specified as USB 2.0 HS (480 Mbps).]
The main difference between USB 2 and USB 3 is data transfer rate - respectively, 480 Mbps versus 5 Gbps. A high quality cable 5 Gbps for CarPlay is overkill but the flat printed wire cables we're dealing with here are of questionable quality/specification. A questionable quality 5 Gbps claimed rated cable has a better chance of having enough "poor quality" margin to support reliable 480 Mbps data transfers than a 480 Mbps claimed rated cable has a margin at all to support a reliable 480 Mbps data transfer.
If you research the flat printed wire cables we're working with here you'll find a wide range of supported current, voltage, frequency, and wire counts available. In a few of the USB flat cable offerings I saw they were just repurposing HDMI 1.3 compatible flat printed wire cables which only has to support a 340 MHz frequency and thus dodgy to use for a reliable 480 Mbps data transfer application.

I found the SanDisk Cruzer Fit to be able to fit and I can close the panel as well on my 2019 ES300h. The rubber cover obviously stays opened but it doesn't prevent the cover from closing.
Specific product number for the USB stick I'm using is SanDisk Cruzer Fit CZ33 32GB USB 2.0 Low-Profile Flash Drive- SDCZ33-032G-B35, hope it helps someone. I also tested the Samsung FIT Plus 3.1 USB Flash Drive, which is too tall and does not fit.

Have you guys considered using this?
I have a 21 with a door on the top of the 2 usb's and audio jack. this is tape though, so it should lay flat and allow the door to close. Im going to attempt to use this and mount the female end in the center console.
